If you are not familiar with affiliate marketing it works like this. As an affiliate marketer you join a program with an affiliate merchant and then they give you products to sell for them. This is extremely helpful to the average Internet marketer because the product is already developed and ready to sell.

As a matter of fact as an affiliate marketer you will also be given support materials to help you make sales with. These materials will include your own affiliate website to sell the products, marketing materials such as graphics and banners, and other support material including email messages and blog articles. This is part of what makes affiliate marketing the perfect Internet business for the average person. All you have to do is use the support material you are handed and find customers to your new business.

You will earn a handsome commission to promote your affiliate website and make sales. This is what separates successful affiliate marketers from people who do not make any money. The number one thing you should concentrate on is to get as much targeted traffic to your affiliate website as possible. This takes skills and hard work, but anyone can do it if they possess average intelligence.

Again the nice thing is many of the shortcuts are already set up for you. If you want to move to a higher level with your Internet business there are also other things you can do. For example, you can create your own landing page and put a sign up form on it. The sign up form is a place for your visitor to give you their name and email address. In exchange for doing this you will offer some sort of a useful piece of information such as an ebook, a report, or some other freebie. But why you want to do that? Let me explain.

Most people will not make a purchase on their first visit; therefore it is important that you are able to follow up with them over and over. You do this by preprogramming a series of messages in an auto responder and dripping this information on your visitor after they give you their name and email address. This is a very easy process to set up and worth the time to do it. In the future you can develop a large list of prospects that you are emailing on a consistent basis.

Today so much of the Internet is built around relationships. You see this in various forms of social media such as blogging, videos on YouTube, and other forms of Web 2.0. This is also one reason why starting an affiliate marketing Internet business could be a good choice for you. By utilizing the landing page and autoresponder approach, you are able to build relationships with your prospects which ties in very well with social networking.

Over time you will see your affiliate sales increase because you become a trusted business partner of the people on your list. You have earned the credibility that you now possess because you have taken the time to get to know people as friends after they have subscribed to your email list.

There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - You made some very good points here Jeff and I agree with you, Affiliate Marketing should not be something that you concentrate all your efforts into. As i said earlier I have learned a lot with Affiliate Marketing and continue to do so, and it has helped me tremendously to understand what I am going to have to do in my chosen niche(s). Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.
