A major misconception that many new home based business owners have is that by simply posting a few affiliate links on their website they will be able to sell anything. It is next to impossible to make a living with a Internet home business with this philosophy. You will need to build trust with your visitors and build your credentials as an expect in your chosen field..

While there are many things that a Internet home business owner should do to make their site relevant to the visitors here are some of the more important.

1. Unique content. Having a website that is different then the other websites is understandably important. A website should offer helpful information for the visitor. Every page should not be a sales pitch but rather some honest opinion a product or service.

One good formula to try to stick to is the Four to One. Four posts to your website should be for strictly information purposes offering free advice while only a few should be product reconditions promoting your affiliate links.

2. Promote yourself not your website. People trust people not the Internet. Instead of trying to compete against a giant corporate website and copying their site promote you. Play off of the fact that you are a small home based business owner and you have succeeded.

Use your name in articles and in forum posts. The more your name found in search engines the more people will trust you and search you out.

3.Use The K.I.S.S. principle of marketing. Keep it simple and give your visitors only a few choices. Try not to overwhelm them but rather offer a few choice products that you highly recommend.

4. Offer something for free. Who doesn’t like something for free? Offer your visitors a free eBook and promote its value. Empathize its importance and market the fact that you are offering it for free. It is a free gift, something that was created by you and is being given away with every purchase or simply by filling out a form.

5. Offer a reduced price. If what you are selling is a subscription based product offer the first month at a extremely reduced price. This gives the visitor a feeling of safety in the fact that if they don’t see the value they will not be out much money. It also increases your credibility because you are showing that you are so certain that they will enjoy the service you will offer a tremendous discount to prove it.

These are just a few tips to help your Internet home business. By implementing these and few others into your website your home based business should begin to actually begin making sales.
