Home Business Expert: Direct Sales Is An Economic & Recession Proof Business

The economy is always an up and down roller coaster ride. There are times when everything is ‘hunky dory’ and the going is great, and then there are downfalls and depression too. These swings in the economy are very normal and they will remain. It is you as the business owner who will have to adjust with the changes and adapt with any change in the market. However did you know that direct sales is an economic and recession proof business? Yes it is true, direct sales is indeed an economic and recession proof business – let me explain.

But before I go into why direct sales is an economic and recession proof business, let us first see what a direct sale is in the first place. Direct sales is a situation where there are independent consultants or sales executives who do not work for the business and yet makes a sale (or works as a sales executive) for the business. This is a great solution for a business (particularly a small one that cannot keep a full time sales executive) because all the business does is offer a commission, and that too only after the sales have been made. So if there are no sales or no revenues, then there is no cost as well.

Now this approach works best no matter what the economic condition – and this is why it is said that direct sale is an economic and recession proof business. For the business it makes a lot of sense, particularly when the economy has taken a down turn. And for the customer too it is good because the independent consultant is actually meeting up with him/her and making an offering after explaining to the person how the product or the service can benefit him/her.

It is this unique approach that makes direct sales an economic and recession proof business. If the prospect can understand the value in the offering and if he/she is need of it then he will become a customer. The problem with selling from a store is that, in many cases there are impulse purchases, and in times of recession, these impulse sales plunge, and when this happens, it is bad news for the store. But with direct sales, this is not the case.

Direct sales is an economic and recession proof business even when the sales executive or the affiliate is reaching the prospect over the telephone. The telephone has become an accepted mode of communication to make an offer and sales can be made over it. So direct sales is an economic and recession proof business, even so when the sale is over the telephone.

Sales is an essential part of any business, and this is true for the home business as well. So as the work from home entrepreneur you should depend on direct sales that much more, because no matter what the economic situation, with direct sales you can have that impact, which is great news for your business enterprise.
