The phrase 'content is king' might be somewhat of a cliche, but on the Internet this is extremely true. Just run a search for any search query at a search engine and you are almost sure to find that the websites that rank at the top have a lot of content. And because of their great ranks, these websites generate a lot of Internet traffic (this should really be the starting point for your online business, because if you do not have traffic, then how can you attractive prospects).

Article writing offers great advantages when you want to carry out online publicity because you can add lot of content to your website. Writing articles and publishing them on the directories also gives you the opportunity to generate incoming links that also enhances your link popularity, which is also great news when you are trying to achieve good search engine ranks.

Here are top 15 ideas for article writing that is sure to help you.

1. Always write information rich and interesting articles to establish yourself as an expert in your line of business.

2. When you are writing do remember that the Internet is not a reader friendly medium and so no one reads every line of what you have written. So you have to use bullets, underline and text highlighting.

3. Always use simple language.

4. Using humor and comedy in the articles is a good idea but do not overdo this.

5. Write how to' articles to solve a problem or to show the way to all those who need help on a given topic. If your how to' guide becomes popular, you can expect it to generate a lot of traffic.

6. Write an interview' article where you actually publish your conversation with a proven expert in your field. The interview will generate good interest.

7. Write about your own experiences in first person. Explain a problem that you faced and how you finally overcame it and how you felt after wards.

8. Write articles on product reviews and A vs. B product comparisons. Such articles help people a lot to decide which product to opt for.

9. Spread your articles far and wide. The idea of writing articles is to generate enough publicity and so it is always advisable that you submit them at many article directories.

10. Make your articles unique. Never copy from anywhere else there are websites that enable you to find out whether you are using copied content or not, and if that is the case, your website might be punished for this.

11. Start a blog and keep posting new articles at least 2 to 3 times every week. Invite people to comment and engage them.

12. Keep adding new articles. Writing articles is a continuous process and so you should keep writing new ones and adding them every month.

13. When it seems that there may not be any more topics left, you can pick up the old topics and look for a new angle, a fresh perspective and rework on it.

15. Write articles for the most popular keywords in your business. You can either write individual articles for each keyword or at the most club 2-3 keywords and write an article for them.

I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need.
