Business Opportunity in a Recession

All too often home business is taken for granted. It is easy to forget that work at home involves more dedication and commitment than working for an employer. When you are your own boss you make the decisions about when and how hard you work. Finding a balance between your responsibilities to your family and your business.

7 myths about business opportunity:

1. Work at home is effortless - False: If it were effortless it would not be called work.
2. Turnkey business will build itself - False: When you turn the key someone has to drive that business
3. You will get rich quick - False:: It takes time to build a business. Plan to spend 3-5 years dedicated to growing your business
4. Free business opportunities will make you rich - False: If you could get rich with a free business everyone would be rich
5. Internet business is expensive False: Most internet business can be started for under $5000 and minimal monthly costs. Traditional business usually costs 75-100 THOUSAND dollars to start and then the ongoing costs of employees, inventory, rent etc.
6. When you work at home, you work alone - False: Cooperative marketing teams share their knowledge and skills to benefit team members
7. Duplication works - False: It is impossible to duplicate what someone else does. We all have our own personality, style and experience. Cooperation and delegation allows people to work in their area of strength while they earn and learn

Choosing the right home based business is probably the single most important factor affecting your ability to be successful. Being involved with a business opportunity that you can be proud of will make a huge difference to your commitment and dedication to building your business.

The lure of the newest and most innovative product or the promise of being first in a ground floor opportunity, can be irresistible. We have been conditioned to believe that a new business or a new opportunity about to launch is better than a company that has been around for awhile.

The truth is, an established company with great products, is much better choice. Most start up companies whether they are online of offline will fail within the first two years. Statistically, start up companies is a very risky proposition.

Entrepreneurs are risk takers or they would not break out of conventional employee roles to move into the business world. With the unstable economy and 1000s of people a day losing their jobs, the entrepreneurial spirit is awakening in people who are concerned about their financial future.

To be a successful entrepreneur means making good decisions and working hard. The Internet has spawned many affiliate programs that allow you to start your business with the foundation already in place. A strong foundation is important especially during a recession when everyone is concerned about their finances.

Corporations are failing at worst and having to restructure or downsize to reduce their costs. Take a lesson from the corporate world and do not choose to affiliate with a business that does not have a track record.

Look at all aspects of the company. If you don't love the product, the company and the compensation plan, you will not be successful. Who would buy anything that you do not fully believe in? Do your homework and research diligently until you have found the business opportunity that you could be proud of.

Marketing online with a home based business, like any other career, requires a commitment to learning and putting the knowledge into action. There are "secrets" to learn, and "actions" to take to keep moving to the next level in business and in life. The greatest secret that I learned is that working online in a home based business doesn't mean you are working alone. People, just like you, have been my greatest inspiration. It has not always been easy, but it has been fun! Raising a family, working full time offline, and part time online presents many challenges. Franchising 'where to advertise?' Franchising 'where to advertise?' - Great Forum. It took me a while to find you, but well worth the efforts... I'm launching a Business Opportunity and I have a few questions that I'm pondering. Mainly where to advertise and what online directories to target. directoryfranchise.com looks good, but I have no idea if they're worth the cost. They want 99.00-199.00 to list my site at up to 40 different listing sites. franchisegator.com and franchiseopportunities.com look solid... any suggestions? I'm currently devoting a significant amount of my time writing articles and plan to submit to the article directories. I'm already seeing good results from the few articles that I have released. My site is up and I have most of the puzzle pieces in place. Any comments on the site, and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.
