The fact is, though, even highly motivated people can get caught up in the promise of riches without effort. This dream is highly promoted for internet home based business.

Living life in the fast lane has become a way of life in our society. Instant gratification permeates every area of our daily activities. Cell phones, microwave ovens, fast foods, jets and the internet are just a few examples of areas where we have come to expect quick access to what we want. The Internet is the most amazing medium for technology.

Promise of overnight success fills our e-mail and is prevalent on every Google search. Pre-launch, turnkey and instant wealth opportunities are springing up every day. If the cost to check it out is low enough many people will check it out just in case! The only ones making any money are the people who made the offer in the first place. The more people who pay the price to check it out, the more money they make!

Home business owners online have a skewed view of what it takes to be successful online. We see the promises so often we start to believe that overnight success is possible. Stories of riches reach us and we perceive those successes happened literally overnight. We forget or ignore the reality that success in anything takes time. What we don't understand is the hard work and discipline that preceded the seemingly overnight success.

Malcolm Gladwell examines the secrets of successful people in his new book, Outliers. Marketing online is not immune to the secrets of success. Hard work and discipline is required to get the results that you want and need to be successful. If the best and brightest business tycoons spent 10,000 hours or more working towards their goal it does not make sense that online marketers believe they can achieve success overnight without having to do a thing.

Jumping from one business to another with the promise of instant success is the surest way to fail online. The Internet offers the average person the best hope for home business success if you treat it with respect. Instead of being lured into the next best business opportunity it would make more sense to find an opportunity that speaks to you and then stick with it.

Changing your mindset from get rich quick to get rich is not that difficult. Treat your online business like a real business from the minute you start to consider the internet as your vehicle to success. Affiliating with a company that has been doing business successfully for more than two years adds credibility to your business opportunity. Business on the Internet follows the same pattern.

Too much credence is given to the new pre-launch business opportunity. Any start up business is risky at best. Only those business opportunities that have a very strong product and well developed business plan will even get past the starting gate. Getting involved with a business that is writing the business plan as it launches is just plainly ludicrous.

Forget the empty promises. When you are looking at business opportunity, the discerning eye of the business man or woman is needed. I have been told so many times that the product is not important if you want to make money. The underlying assumption is that the compensation plan is the most important piece of any business opportunity. The truth is, any product or service has to give value to the ultimate consumer or no one will pay to have it.

Unless you have a very large circle of influence you will not be able to support a significant income by having family and friends as your customers. Sooner or later you have to go elsewhere to find customers if you want your business to grow.

The Internet is the perfect vehicle to find customers. Home business owners have the ability to market their company across the globe. Keep in mind that the most successful people have put in 10,000 or more hours before they became an overnight success. Choose your business well, and then work hard and consistently until you reach your goal for success in your home based business.

Elevator Pitch in 10 Words - "Winning Business Design For Aspiring Entrepreneurs Based On Their Idea"
Broken delivery guarantees - Hi Everyone, I recently had a bad online purchasing experience due delivery problems. A tennis retailer I ordered from had used FedEx's Standard Overnight shipping to try and deliver my package to my friend's place in NY on Friday, August 29th. However, since my friend was at work and the condo doorman was perhaps on a break, FedEx brought it back to their depot. Keep in mind that I was only in NY for the long weekend, so I wouldn't even be able to get my order when they try to make a 2nd delivery attempt. So what's the point of calling it "Overnight delivery" when I didn't end up getting my package the next day? Most residential addresses won't have anyone at home to accept parcels because everyone is at work, so why even bother trying to deliver something during the day if you can't leave it there? And get this, FedEx then tries to deliver the goods again on Tues, Sept 2nd but reports it's the "incorrect address" and there's no such place. But then how come they found condo on Aug 29th? My order was just shipping in their depot on Sept 3rd and according to their online tracking, it's supposed to be delivered sometime today on Sept 4th. We'll see. FedEx's Overnight shipping has turned into 3+ days shipping. What would you do? I was so infuriated that I wanted to just cancel the order and ask FedEx to return it back to the retailer. I've never had any of these sort of problems with UPS.

The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
