In years gone by working online meant working alone at your computer. Most people relied on e-mail marketing to promote their products. Spam laws have curtailed unsolicited e-mailing and online marketers have developed other marketing strategies.
Advances in technology has given a boost to home based business owners. Traditional business is catching up and moving towards marketing their products online.
Many companies are offering affiliate programs that allow anyone to start a home based business.
The advantage of affiliating with a company is starting with a business opportunity complete with web sites, support, product, promotional material, marketing strategy and a commission structure. Affiliate members essentially have their own independent business using the parent company resources.
Entrepreneurs are taking home based business one step further and organizing teams to the benefit of the individual business owners. This is especially beneficial for people new to the internet. A well rounded team will have members working in their areas of strength and contributing to the overall team strategies. Members with specific skills take a leadership role to help everyone learn from their knowledge and experience.
Learning curves for team members is significantly shorter when they a mentor to work with. Working as a team can enable business builders to incorporate promotional activities and a comprehensive marketing strategy.
Every industry develops teams to work on major projects. It makes sense to have team members with skill sets integral to the group project work together to bring project to completion. Teams that build synergy between members and work cooperatively to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks. Putting the team concept to work online is powerful for a home based business.

- Here is my financial management categories for today:
15% Long Term Savings;
10% Home Expenses;
45% Business and Marketing charges;
10% Friends (Meeting);
20$ Scientific and Law Books.
But this will change when it is August or September.

- I've had quite a bit of success on oDesk.com. I've never used Elance so I can't compare.
I like oDesk.com 'cos I get to sort thru people (e.g. within a certain bid range) with a single click. I find their help response very quick and I like the oDesk Team software that "providers" must install. This gives me the Buyer more insight as to what I am paying for. The Team software takes screenshots of the Providers screen on 10 min increments so I can see that the person is infact doing work for me.
