When you start to take something for granted it is human nature to decrease the amount of input, sometimes totally, and still expect to get great results.

7 Essential Start Up Tips For Online Marketers:

1. Research - Take the time to thoroughly investigate the home based business the you are interested in. The more you know about the company, the product and the target market the more prepared you will be to develop your business plan.

2. Commitment - Be prepared to make a 3-5 year commitment to build your business. If you do not think the company, product or service has a long term focus then you should walk away.

3. Time - Decide how many hours per week you can devote to developing your plan. 10-15 hours a week is a part time commitment: anything less than a part time effort will take much longer than 5 years to build. There is no overnight success.

4. Money - There will be costs involved. Most affiliate programs have a start up cost and a regular product purchase commitment that you must comply with if you want to earn commissions. There may be costs over and above this for advertising and promoting your business. Be prepared.

5. Education - Be prepared to learn the things you don't know about online marketing and to improve in the areas you already know. It is not enough to have the information though. You must integrate your knowledge into your plan and implement the strategies.

6. Quality Control - Track and evaluate everything that you do for its effectiveness. Continually monitor and evaluate the tasks and strategies you are using and tweak them or discard them as indicated.

7. Results - Business is about making money. Tailor the bulk of your plan to finding customers. Customers are the foundation of every business - the more customers you have the more money you will make.

More important than any task you have to perform is your attitude. You must have an overwhelming desire to succeed. Failure can not be an option or you have already sabotaged your success. Challenges or obstacles can be overcome but failure is an end and excuse to quit.

Do not underestimate your ability to really make a difference to your financial future. The best hope for the average person to make a huge difference to their financial situation is a home based business.
