Search engine optimization or for short, SEO is the number one tool for all internet marketers all over the world. It doesn't matter if you are just starting to learn internet marketing or if you work online for several years, SEO is the one tool you must learn how to use and sooner the better. At the beginning SEO may look confusing and something only experts can do. You will see these SEO experts offering their SEO services, and it may look hard to do but everyone can do it, all you have to do it learn.

Here are 7 reasons why you need to learn SEO:

1- As mentioned in the last paragraph it is the number one tool. As you learn how internet marketing works, you will see SEO has a lot to do with it.

2- SEO is not only for building web pages, you can see it work in all aspects of internet marketing: Web pages, blog posts, article marketing, social bookmarking and more.

3- SEO is not as scary as the SEO experts want you to think it is, after you learn the basics rules of SEO, you will never pay for someone else doing it for you again.

4- When you work online, it is very helpful to hire people to do some of the work for you; however SEO is important and need to be tested all the time and monitored. You must know SEO to check if the job is done correctly and to your benefits.

5- Your hired help can only do some of the work for you, if you do some of the work yourself, and want fast results, the best way is to learn and do the SEO part yourself, this way your web pages or content will get indexed faster with the search engines.

6- Learning SEO will put you in front of all the other internet marketers who don't know SEO yet. They are your competitors, and if they don't use SEO to get top rankings with the search engines, it means you will get there first.

7- Learning SEO can also help you "spy" on your competitors, the ones you see on the first page, see what they do to get the top ranking and duplicate it for better results. Notice only to duplicate the way they got to the top and not their content.

Learning SEO will only benefit you in the future, it will help you get faster results, get indexed by the search engines and getting noticed. Good SEO skills will, eventually, drive more traffic to your website and other webpages, generating more leads and more sales, helping you grow your income by working online.

Learning SEO is easy, the internet is full with free information about SEO, and you just need to look for it. Go to forums and ask questions, you will find many people happy to teach you how SEO works and how to use it, your job is to collect all this information and learn search engine optimization.

What is your hit ratio? - Like most entrepreneurs I have more ideas for where I want to take my business than I can handle. I believe in the "fail early, fail often" philosophy and try to find small ways to get started on a project to see if it has any legs. I would estimate that for every 50 things I try, most of them don't have an impact for me, 10 of them have a slightly positive impact, and 1 hits it really big. Some of my big wins over the past few years have been: * Learning the ins and outs of search engine optimization to drive traffic * Putting up and optimizing Google AdSense ads to monetize the website * Deciding to be the leader in profiling famous entrepreneurs online * Recruiting outside authors to help contribute to the website content (now have over 25,000 pages) * Creating the entrepreneur forums * Bringing on staff to help cope with the daily amount of work required to keep things running smoothly What is your hit ratio and some of your big wins?

But the best benefit of a contest like this (whether you win a prize or not) is that it gets you motivated to do something you should already be doing regularly anyway. And that is forum participation, of course. Immersing yourself in a marketing community helps you get info, ideas, insight, inspiration, insider knowledge, encouragement, confidence, feedback and friends. Learning from others is great. Sharing your own info and insight with others is great. Networking your products and services is great. Building your online image or brand is great. The more you post, the more exposure you get. The more value you offer in your posts, the better your reputation becomes as a knowledgeable and capable service provider. It doesn't matter whether or not you win a prize ... if you are participating regularly all month long, you are already a winner! That makes you a leader and leadership has its rewards.
