Getting
started with affiliate marketing to generate an online income is
nothing new. However, people often overlook its usefulness as a
secondary source of income if they’re not keen on using affiliate
marketing as their primary income source. Not everyone is going
to purchase your product or sign up for your email list. This
could be because of your website design, your sales funnel or they
just may not be interested in the products or services you’re
offering. Whatever the reason may be, once they leave, they’re
gone forever. If they’re not going to buy your products,
why not tempt them with some affiliate offers to try and still
profit from them?
Lets
take a look at a couple of ways to easily integrate affiliate profits
into your business strategy as a form of secondary income.
1.
Primary Website
There is a lot people who are reluctant to
promote other products on their primary website. The main
reason for this is that it could cause potential customers to click
on those offers rather than making a purchase. This is a valid
concern, but you should be taking additional measures to create a way
to contact these visitors in the future via email or an RSS feed.
It’s important that you choose complimentary products
when integrating affiliate offers throughout your primary website.
This provides two benefits. First, you won’t be
offering products that compete with your own product therefore losing
potential sales based upon the products themselves. Second,
your affiliate offers should actually be able to further enhance your
sales. It should appear as if using several products together
will provide buyers with the maximum benefit, and they’ll often
purchase your product mainly because it works with an affiliate
product that they’re interested in. Using affiliate offers in
this way will not only generate income as an affiliate, but it can
also boost the sales of your primary products as well.
2.
Newsletters
Newsletters are a great way to promote your
primary product, but if that’s the only product you promote, your
readers will quickly tire of the content. When this happens,
they’re likely to unsubscribe to your newsletter, which means
you’ll have no method of contacting them in the future. Promoting
affiliate products through your newsletter will keep the interest of
your readers. Also, by promoting products that they find
helpful, it will increase their level of trust in you, which will
also increase the possibility of purchasing your primary product.
Promoting affiliate offers in your newsletter is also
helpful to retain your customers. Once they have purchased your
product, you need to give them a reason to keep reading your
newsletter. If you keep promoting your primary product,
especially if they have already purchased it, the newsletter will
serve no purpose for them. You might as well continue to feed
them quality content and monetize it with quality affiliate
offers.
These are only a few of the ways that you can use
affiliate marketing as a secondary source of income. By not
utilizing affiliate products, you’re not only missing out on an
additional source of revenue, but you’re also passing on unique
ways to build confidence between you and your readers.
