How to Find and Attract Highly Targeted Prospects to Your Website
A common belief that has caused a lot online marketers problems is the idea that all website traffic is created equal. The fact is, nothing could be further from the truth. If you have a wedding planning website, the last thing you want is someone who has been happily married for a decade. They have no use for the products and services that you provide. It doesn't matter if you get 100,000 visitors a day, if they are all already married. The key is to use traffic generation strategies that pre-qualify your visitors. This type of traffic is known as targeted traffic sources. Here is a quick look at some of the most consistently profitable methods of attracting highly targets prospects to your website.
PPC
PPC ads are consistently heralded as the most effective way to drive laser targeted prospects to your website. It doesn't matter if you are using search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing or social media websites like Facebook and MySpace, PPC is effective. The reason that PPC is so effective is because you decide who will see your ad. For example, if your ad says, “Bright Red Widgets For Sale”, then the only people that will click on your ad are already searching for a place that sells bright red widgets. If PPC is not providing you with highly targeted traffic, then it is up to you to make your ad campaign more effective, because the source itself is a proven winner.
Article Marketing
Article marketing can drive highly targeted prospects to your website in two different ways. The first is simply through search engines. If you article ranks well for the keywords that you have selected, then people searching for your article topic have already pre-qualified themselves. Additionally, articles that have been submitted to article directories can also be picked up by E-newsletters, put into Ebooks, and placed on other websites. If someone has decided to publish your article elsewhere, then there is a high likelihood that they are sharing your article with people that would gain value from your content. Regardless of the source, article marketing can drive visitors to your website that have already pre-qualified themselves as targeted traffic.
The Commenting Arena
There are a number of different techniques that are predicated on the idea of you commenting on someone else's work. This includes blog commenting, article commenting, answer questions on websites like Yahoo Answers, and commenting on forums. These are all effective at driving highly targeted prospects to your website for the same basic reason. First, think about someone who has visited a forum, website, or blog about wedding designs. They are obviously looking for advice, information, or inspiration to help them design their wedding. As long as the comment/answer that you leave provides additional value or a unique insight, these visitors are likely to click on the link to your website to see what else you have to say.
Now think about how many times these people have already proven that they are targeted visitors for your website. First, they probably used a search engine to find the blog/website/forum that you posted a comment on. Second, they read (or at least scanned) the entire article, all the way to the bottom where the the comments section is. Third, they read all of the comments. Fourth, they then clicked on another link in order to get your website. Every one of these actions has continued to prove that this traffic is highly targeted.
There are a lot of additional ways to find and attract highly targeted prospects to your website, however PPC, Article Marketing, and Commenting/Answering continue to prove themselves as the most effective.
