Sell More Online With These 7 Basic Business Website Design Tips
Whether you are designing a new website
from scratch or simply want to upgrade your current business website
design, there are a several techniques you can use to make your site
convert better. Here's a quick look at seven simple website design tips
to grab your readers attention, tailor your advertisements to their
interests, and keep your website visitors engaged and active.
One of the best things you can do to improve your
website conversion rate is organize your top navigation bar with
monetization in mind. The top navigation bar is where people tend to
click when they want to navigate your website so it makes sense to post
direct links to your money pages there. If those pages are well
designed, the increased traffic should lead to a jump in your website
conversion rate.
Another quick and easy business website design
tip is to match your banner ads of the content of the web pages or blog
posts where they appear. For example, if you have a website or blog with
several different categories, then it makes sense to allocate a
different set of advertisements for each category. This tip is
particularly relevant to larger or less focused websites; if you have a
tightly focused micro-niche blog, for example, you can probably get away
with a single set of ads across the whole site.
A lot of business website owners neglect to
monetize their "About Me" page. Of course, the main purpose of the page
is to tell your website visitors something about yourself, your
background and your mission. However, there's no reason why you
shouldn't include a link or two to your money pages, best-selling
products, or affiliate offers. For example, if you have created a
digital product, then you should mention it as part of your story and
include a direct link to it. As an added bonus, many people who link to
your website will link to your About Me page which means that you can
gain search engine ranking benefits as well.
The header space on your website will usually be
the first thing that your website visitors will look at so post a large
banner ad for one of your best converting offers. Again, think about
matching your header advertisements to the different categories on your
website.
Adding an opt in box to get people to join your list is likely something
that you are doing or planning to do already. Since you want to place
advertisements and offers in the spaces which get the most attention
from your readers, using a lightbox will allow you to gain the maximum
amount of sign-ups without taking up any of your premium advertising
space.
Another simple business website design tip is to always ensure that your
most popular content is in the sidebar. While it may be below an
advertisement, it should be towards the top of the sidebar.
Additionally, in order to save space you should use a tabbed content
area. This will allow readers to see the maximum amount of popular
content without you sacrificing a lot of space.
Finally, remember to post a link to your squeeze
page at the end of each new post that you publish. The first reason for
this is to give people something to do after they finish reading your
article. If they like what they have read, they will arrive on your
squeeze page in a positive frame of mind, which means you stand a much
better chance of getting a result from them. The second reason is
because some people will want to link to your article; having a link to
your squeeze page will help to funnel some of the extra traffic to it
for you.
Now it's time to check your website to see how
many of these business website design tips you need to work on so as to
squeeze extra profitability from your site.
