Unique Products vs Proven Products - What To Choose?

Well, I have created both and from my experience, and from what I have learnt from my mentors over the last 3 years, it is a lot easier to sell a product to a proven market then to create a unique product and hope for the best.
What do I mean by that? Well most people create their products to sell using the following model:
• Great idea
• Research
• Create product
• Build website
• Start selling
• Try and find buyers/traffic
I created my first product using the model above. As much as I made sales I soon realised that this product was something ‘I thought’ people wanted, not ‘what the market’ really wanted.
It took me a year of creating things that I was passionate about and not making a lot of money to realise that something was not working.
When I joined a mastermind group and started following successful people online, I soon learnt that the model that works successfully nearly every time is:
• Research and find a group of hungry buyers
• Create a survey and ask them what are their needs/wants/desires
• Capture their details
• Build or create the product that fulfils their needs/wants/desires
• Add tremendous value and bonuses
• Provide testimonials and proof that your product delivers on its promise
• Deliver a 100% guarantee behind your product
• Create a sales letter that reinforces the benefits (not features) of your product to your hungry crowd
• Market it to the hungry crowd
• Tweak, test and sell over and over again.
This is how successful people market their products. Most internet marketers I know test as an affiliate with someone else’s product then create a better product to sell to the same niche.

Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - Very insightful, and I totally aggree, service first... it is a substantial foundation for any business. Products and service go hand in hand to make a business really successful. Nevertheless quality control for both is also actually a must; you will never offer services that are not par with the standards neither with products. Focusing on the product aspect, in stores or in deliveries or in any other way you get to sell your products there is a pinch of service involved. Even after a product is sold "customer service hotlines" is another form of service buyers somehow expect from you. So IMHO service or product are like chicken and eggs... lol,,,
niche forum categories niche forum categories - I think Kevin just touched on the point that I was going make... and that is developing 'categories' that stick. Sales and Marketing may be too broad for example. However I can almost guarantee you that you would see many more sign-ups if you tailored a category to 'internet marketing' for newbies. I've seen this work on other forums, however, [i:1i903wkn]it can get a little frantic[/i:1i903wkn]... Fine tuning the categories, or expanding the scope should be effective. I think a lot of IM folks are surfing right on by because they're not finding what they're looking for here... Just a few thoughts: Better Blogging Developing Info Products Internet Marketing Presentation Skills More How to's Another point is... a lot of people don't know that they can benefit from participating in forums. The signature links to their site - if they have one - can / should be motivation enough to get more involved. The more internet savvy members that have signatures seem to stick around more... Don't you think?
Setting up Revenue Sharing Program Setting up Revenue Sharing Program - Hi Martin I know it must be confusing going through the process of setting up an advertisement when you're not actually going to use it, but it's how it seems to work. For anyone else who has problems with this process, simply follow these instructions courtesy of magnify.net and make sure you have created your Adsense Account and it has been approved. To create a [i:1b5dm29n]new channel[/i:1b5dm29n], go the main AdSense web site, login and click "AdSense Setup", then "Channels", then "Add new custom channels". You can call your channel anything e.g. evancarmichael.com To discover the [i:1b5dm29n]channel number[/i:1b5dm29n] (so you can paste it into the Evan Carmichael Revenue Sharing Program) that has been assigned to your new channel, click "Products" and "AdSense for content", then create an ad (Just hit next, next, next until you reach Get Ad Codes) using your new channel and copy the number from the line that says "google_ad_channel = ". Now enter that number into Evan Carmichael Revenue Sharing Program and you'll be setup.
