The two most difficult things that internet marketers’ face with their online home based businesses are, generating a large amount of targeted traffic to their websites and then converting these visitors into subscribers or customers.

Here are five tips and strategies that will help to make the second part of these two challenges a little easier to deal with:

Firstly you need to realize that it is not easy to sell anything on the internet unless you have established your reputation as an expert in your field. Merely posting affiliate links onto your website is not going to be sufficient if you are serious about earning a good income as an internet home based business owner.

You will need to build a degree of trust and create some hype about the product that you are marketing.

These are some of the things that you will want to have on your site so that your visitors will feel that you are a person to whom they should listen.

1. It is important that you let people know who you are. Don’t even think about hiding behind your website and using it like a barrier. Have your name and photograph prominently displayed so that anyone visiting your website will know immediately that they are dealing with a real person.

Make sure that you are smiling in your photograph so that people feel welcome when they enter your website.

2. Have useful and relevant content on your website. This is part of letting people know who you are. Let them see that you know what you are talking about as this will all add to your appeal and anyone visiting will believe that they can trust your judgment and knowledge.

3. Another good idea is to add audio, such as an introduction to your website, just below your photograph and name. This can create a lot of appeal to the public.

4. If possible consider using videos to demonstrate your product. Even a power point demonstration will help to prove that you know what you are talking about, and that you work with the product yourself, and are not just trying to sell it without knowing anything about it.

5. Don’t complicate things; give your potential customers a simple choice. You want to move people from the choice of “buy or don’t buy” to the simple choice of whether to buy “basic” or “gold” level of your offer.

Don’t make the mistake of giving your customers too many choices as this will just confuse them and they will leave without make any purchases.

By only offering two packages, your customers will then be able to compare one with the other and make their choice accordingly. In order to make this tactic more effective you should actually choose which package you want them to buy and show the benefits of this as compared to the other choice.

These are just some of the tactics that you can use that should make your conversion rate better. There are many more but this will give you a basic idea of what is required to build a successful internet based home business. Just remember that building a list is necessary before you even get to this point, because without traffic conversions are meaningless.

I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. Google has some amazing tools that can help website owners track everything. From Google Adsense reporting to Google Analytic to Google Conversion and most recently Google Goal Tracking. Between all of those tools a website owner should know exactly what type of traffic is converting & making them money and what type of traffic is not. I even use Google PPC to estimate organic search engine traffic! Website owners would do well to follow your lead and create a base, and then test off that base in regards to advertising. Jeff
