When starting out as an affiliate marketer don't make the mistake of thinking that building an email list is unnecessary. A list of subscribers that belongs to you is the best investment you can have in an internet based home business.

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest methods to use for anyone who wants to start an internet based home business as there is no need to find your own product. All you need to do is research the internet for a couple of good legitimate products, sign up as an affiliate and you are in business.

There are a few points that are extremely important to consider and in this article we will discuss some of them:

1. Even as an affiliate it is worth your while to have a website of your own from which you can promote the products of your choice. This gives you far more freedom and you will be able to have multiple streams of income that you can promote and prosper from.

2. By sending traffic that you have generated, directly to an affiliate link you are not making a very wise decision. By doing this they believe that these visitors will make a purchase on the first contact. Unfortunately this doesn't happen very often.

Most visitors do not purchase anything on the first contact; in fact it has been proven that it normally can take anything up to seven contacts before the average buyer will make buy anything.

Very often your will find that they will require more information about the product and their method of getting this info is through more visits to find out if this product is something that they are really interested in and whether or not they really want it.

This is where an email list becomes invaluable. By building a list of your own subscribers you will be able to follow up on these prospects and get to know them and build a relationship with them so that they will know and trust you.

People generally are happier buying things from someone they feel they can trust and an internet based home business is no than any other kind, you still need to sell products to people you are not selling to computers and the human touch is still important.

3. In order to build a list of subscribers the one thing that is necessary is to have an auto responder because in this way you can automate a large part of the process by setting up a series of follow-up emails that will be sent to anyone who opts in to your subscriber list.

An auto responder service is worth every penny it costs as it will not only manage your lists but will also help increase it. A good auto responder service will usually include a range of services such as spam checkers and tools that allow you to create web forms and opt in forms which will all increase your opt in rate.

In order to create a successful online home base business, make sure that you get your website set up, your auto responder working get a good landing page to send your visitors to where they can opt in to your mailing list then some legitimate affiliate products and all you need to do is them promote the products and build a great internet home based business.

Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on. There are pros and cons to Affiliate Marketing, just as there are to any business. As has been suggested, he best policy is to proceed with caution and do some research before jumping in. As Carol has recommended, this topic thread in the EvanCarmichael.com forum is the ideal place to ask questions and seek further input on available Affiliate Marketing programs. If a person is serious about building an online business and is interested in Affiliate Marketing plans, they should approach the process as they would any other form of business. Research, ask questions, compare opportunities, participate in forums on online business and Affiliate Marketing. GT :-]

The one thing I might add for clarification to readers is on point number 4 concerning "dominating" search results. I always like to clarify the importance of dominating for a variety of well researched keyword phrases that ideally target your ideal buying audience. Sometimes people misunderstand and think the objective is too dominate all top 10 spots for the same keyword. The reason this is not wise is that anyone successfully dominating all top 10 spots may actually be reported to Google Abuse because the purpose of a search engine is to display a variety of choices. Competitors can become quite upset with a company who is dominating all top 10 spots for the same phrase. I realize you know this already, but just thought I'd throw it in for anyone new to SEO. A better way to "dominate" is for a variety of very well researched phrases to pull in multiple audiences of readers. Great post Jenny. Thanks
