The Wordpress platform is a quick and simple way for anyone to create a great looking blog and you do not need to have website building knowledge in order to use it. There is the option of having your blog hosted on the Wordpress platform but generally it is a better choice to use your own hosting account. A concern that many people have is the chance that if you have your blog is hosted by Wordpress it might be blocked for access or have the plug pulled at any time. Of course no one can guarantee that this won’t happen, but Wordpress do have a “no lock-in” policy.
Once you have signed up and set your blog up you can begin to blog immediately.
Another excellent feature on Wordpress is that you can change the theme of your blog very easily and can also switch from one theme to another with just a few clicks of your mouse without losing any information you may have already added.
It is simple task to add blog posts and you can view everything before publishing and make changes if necessary. Adding photos or videos is also not difficult to manage and posts can be saved to publish at a date in the future which you can stipulate, or done immediately, the choice is entirely up to you.
Wordpress is a very flexible system and has many uses, for example if you wish to use it as your main website you can easily add static articles and turn it into a complete website or you have the option is to use it as membership site. It is also a search engine friendly medium and your posts will be indexed very quickly in the various search engines. This feature alone makes it popular with internet business marketers.
Your posts can be categorized and tagged making them easy for visitors to find and you can also track where your traffic is coming from, and all of this is done through the integrated system that Wordpress uses.
Wordpress is a user friendly, feature rich integrated system that makes running an internet home business easier for people who really don’t have much technical knowledge but still want the freedom of being able to market their own online businesses and make any changes they wish to their websites themselves.

how do I get started with Wordpress blog?

It's time for me to get serious about a blog - which I have definitely been resisting. I've read some posts here in the forum that suggests Wordpress Blog is the best and it's interactive. I am currently set up on blogpspot.com but haven't been active for a long time, so it's not problem for me to switch. Where do I begin with Wordpress and after I make a blog post can anyone comment back? Can I monitor the comments? How is Wordpress different or better than blogspot.com?

- Jen, I like the Blog and just posted a comment to one of your articles. From my experience you need to implement some sort of SPAM capture tools. i use them on my Blog and it's been a life saver as I'm getting hit by spam atleast 5 times a day. I use Wordpress and they have plugins like Captcha and SPAM Karma installed.

I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest.
Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.

- Blogger is a good place to start blogging simply because it is so easy to set up a blog and go.
However, Wordpress has a lot more to offer. I recently set up a membership site in about five minutes flat on a Wordpress blog on one of my websites. I haven't had time to develop it yet, but the point is, you can do that sort of thing on Wordpress but not on Blogger. That is just one example of the versatility of Wordpress.
