Do You Lack The Confidence to Start an Internet Based Home Business?

Do You Lack The Confidence to Start an Internet Based Home Business?

It is a strange thing, but no matter how much talent or knowledge you have, if you have no confidence in yourself you will never achieve very much. But on the reverse side if you have a great deal of confidence in your abilities plus the desire to do something even with very little knowledge or natural ability you will learn to do what you need to and you will succeed.

This applies just as much on the internet as anywhere else in life. If you take a look at the people who have succeeded with an internet based home business you will soon see that they come from a variety of different backgrounds with different levels of education and abilities. Not all of them are brilliant at technology, admittedly some of them have great technical talents but there are also many “work at home Mums”, retired company employees and even teenagers with no qualifications of any kind, and all of these people have created successful online home businesses.

These people all succeeded because they had a burning desire to do so and at the same time they had enough self confidence to make their dreams a reality. They were quite prepared to risk possible failure and many of them did in the beginning, but they learned from their mistakes and tried again and if necessary again until they got it right.

So if an internet business is something that you would love to start but lack the confidence to get going here are some tips on how you can boost your confidence:

1. Telling yourself that you need to be more confident is not going to work. It would be better for you to set your end goal as an internet marketer and then visualize it even if you have no idea at this moment of how you will achieve it.

See yourself as having already achieved your goal and feel how you think you would feel. Would it be joy or sheer exhilaration? Whatever it is get that feeling while picturing your success and hold onto it.

2. The next step would be to work out what you would be required to do to reach this goal and then set up a series of smaller goal that would lead to this main one but make them realistic and achievable. Also set a time in which you intend to achieve each one.

With internet marketing there are some simple steps that you can take to achieve these goal that will not challenge your fear of failing.

For example you could decide to improve your Alexa ranking and this can be done in various ways such as publishing articles in a number of article directories, or on your blog or commenting on forums or on other people’s blogs which will increase your backlinks.

3. As you start to see results from your actions your confidence will improve and then you can set yourself some challenges that are a little more difficult. This might be a good time to begin to build a mailing list and your aim here could be to get a certain number of subscribers by a particular date.

In order to do this you will need to learn about auto-responders and how to research list building tactics and then to put this knowledge into action.

While you are learning all these skills and taking action with them you are also learning how to be disciplined and work through each step systematically.

Gradually as you improve your basic skills you will see your website ranking get better and you will start to generate some serious traffic to your website. All of this will increase your confidence in yourself and your abilities to achieve what you set out to do. Nothing builds confidence better than getting some positive results.

By following through on each step and mastering it not only will your confidence increase but your results towards the success you seek will also improve and before you know it you will be one of those internet based home business successes.

Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. Top Four Young Entrepreneur Mistakes - According to Youngmoney.com, these are the four most common mistakes made by young entrepreneurs: 1) Not enough networking 2) Not prepared for the work load 3) Lack of confidence 4) Afraid to ask family and friends for help I would add to this list not getting started in the first place. Boosting Confidence - Confidence is something all of us women could stand to have infused in our blood 24/7! It’s one of those areas that many struggle with the most. Through my coaching practice, I’ve discovered an underlying thread that seems to undermine confidence in some women. It has to do with confusing true confidence with pride or arrogance. Confidence is being sure of who you are and what you are able to do in a way that does not compare yourself to others. It is not dependent on value because every one of us women is valuable. Pride or arrogance is when someone lifts him or herself above others as if they are more valuable than others. It also seems to be related to "approval addiction" where the self esteem must continually be fed by others or they don't feel good about themselves. Thus, some arrogant people put others down so they can see themselves as above. Confidence is simply being all of the great woman you already are. You want to create a great business and you want to do your job well. It is not prideful to be confident in what you are doing. I invite you to give yourself permission to really let your abilities come forward and see what happens to you and your business as a result. I’d also love to hear what methods you have for boosting your own confidence.
