Five Ways to Get More Attention to Your Blog Posts

By examining some of the more popular blog posts you will soon discover that they all have some things in common. This is why any blogger, when asked which blog post of theirs got the most attention, will in all likelihood give you two different answers, simply because the good posts generally get ignored.

From the beginning you need to make your readers your main focus. Don't spend your time talking about yourself on your blog. It is not my intention to be offensive but let's face it, people who are reading your posts are reading them for information that will be helpful to them, and they really don't care to know how your day went. Whatever subject you are talking about be sure to let them know how they can benefit from it.

Make sure that each blog post focuses on one main point. Studies have been done over the past couple of decades on how humans manage information. The consensus is that the average person can only concentrate on a maximum of two ideas at any one time. By giving your readers too many ideas at once they will end up missing or ignoring the message you are trying to impress upon them. When you have many different good ideas that you would like to pass on, rather split them into a few different posts, instead of offloading all of them at once.

An important thing to keep in mind at all times is that you need to treat your readers like you would treat your friends or the very least as if they were someone that you really enjoyed having a conversation with. Keep in mind that even though you are writing professionally, the people who are reading your posts are not professional readers. Speak to them the same as you would to any friend. Write the same way you would speak, using a natural voice is more likely to help you connect and build a relationship with them. This will also increase the chance of them leaving comments on your blog and getting involved.

The people who read blog are in most cases practical and straightforward types. Nobody reading your blog post wants to be lectured to, nor are they looking for text book information. All they want is down to earth practical help or advice that can give them the information to move forward with what they want to do.

Make each blog post an opportunity to help your readers by solving a problem they may have. It is a fact that humans are natural problem solvers even if they are not aware of what the problem is. If you don't know what problems your readers may be having, ask them. A good way to find out what problems they are having is by doing a survey, or inquire in a forum or on Facebook or Twitter, and if you can solve that problem for them in your blog post they will be back to find out more. This will make people aware that you genuinely do want to help them.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.

Re: Attention Age Doctrine Re: Attention Age Doctrine - Hi Andy, So how did you find of "The Attention Age Doctrine" Part 1? And has following its guidelines yielded any positive results yet?
Advertisement that sales Advertisement that sales - Plan your marketing programme. It should include commitment to capital resources. If you run a small business, you aren't likely to have a generous enough advertising budget that will allow you to run costly branding or campaign ads. Every advertisement you run must convey to your prospect a solid offer and attractive reasons to act quickly, and result in increased sales and an enhanced image of your company. Good advertising always pays its own way through increased sales and profits, improved cost-effectiveness, reduced selling costs and shortened selling cycles. A useful formula that will help you increase the effectiveness of your advertising efforts is A-I-D-A, which stands for Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. When creating an advertisement, always remind yourself that it should: (1) capture your prospects' Attention, (2) arouse their Interest in your offer, (3) create their Desire for your product or service, and (4) provide a powerful spur to Action, that is, turn your prospect into buyers. Remember, bad advertising is an unproductive expense, and good advertising is an investment in future profits!
EvanCarmichael.com suggestion EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.
