How to Deal with Competition as a Beginner Online Income Marketer

If you are new to the business of affiliate marketing online which is a great home business model to use in order to generate an income, you will probably find that your biggest challenge will be the amount of competition that you will have to deal with.

The reason for this is that when first setting up an affiliate program the main concern for anyone starting out is to get as many affiliates to join them as they possibly can. Because of the huge number of affiliate online marketers on the internet today they are likely to run into thousands of affiliates all competing against each other to earn commissions on their sales. The more popular the affiliate program the greater the competition will be.

This is great for the product owner but not so good for the new affiliate marketer who is trying to make some sales. So what can a person who is new to online affiliate marketing do to overcome this problem?

Here are a few possible solutions.

1. The first step for anybody who wants to make money with affiliate marketing is to do some research before getting their online based business set up. There are thousands of affiliate programs available on the internet in all sorts of niches, so your first decision would have to be the type of niche that you want to promote. Also make sure that it is a market that is big enough and lucrative enough for you to actually make some money in. Check that it also has several affiliate products available for you to promote, but that there is not too much established competition there.

2. The internet can be a very impersonal place. How many websites do you visit where you have absolutely no idea who the owner is? I can pretty much guarantee that a huge proportion of your competition are trying to sell products from websites that are just filled with hype and have no personal input at all.

These are not websites that you should be copying! Let people know who you are. This is important as people generally feel far more confident about spending their money with someone they feel comfortable with as they feel that they have something in common with them. So brand yourself first before the product you are promoting. Have a photograph of yourself on your website and let people know a bit about you and what your interests are. This will go a long way towards building their trust in you.

Also have your contact details on your website. Buying anything can be an emotional process and knowing that you can be contacted if they have any problems will all add to having a relationship with your customers and it will provide a service to them which will be appreciated.

3. Add more to your website than just offering affiliate products for sale. If you have a product of your own that is unique such as an e-book or an e-mail course then by giving this away to prospective customers or selling it at a low price, your chances of making good sales on your back end products will improve dramatically.

By offering a product or service that is unique you are placing yourself apart from the crowd and when you do this you are branding yourself as an expert in your field as a person capable of creating something that is not only relevant to your niche but it is also unique. This will give you a great deal of credibility in the eyes of your prospective buyers.

Once you master these techniques you will find that you are streaks ahead of your competition and your ability to succeed as an online affiliate marketer working from home in your own business will be far more assured.
