Anyone who is looking for information on the internet will start their search by going to a search engine like Google to find it. So if your website is listed for the keywords that they are searching for on say page one, then the chances of them visiting your website to find the information are pretty

good and the more visitors you have to your site, the greater the chances of making a sale.

One of the ways that you can get back links is by using internet forums and this is mostly free advertising. All it takes is a little bit of your time.

In this article we are going to talk about using internet forums to get back links for your legitimate online home business.

So what is an internet forum? It can best be described as an internet membership website that is supported by content which is generated by the users. The way it works is by people who join the website by signing up or registering as a member. To do this you would need to fill in a quick online form and once you are accepted, you will then be able to read and respond to any messages that are posted on there.

The conversations run in the form of a “thread”. It will begin with somebody either making a statement or asking a question to which other people will then respond. Each consecutive answer or statement will follow on the previous one and in this manner a whole conversation amongst a group of like minded people with grow.

By taking part in the various threads and adding value to the conversation you will begin to build a reputation for yourself as someone who can be relied on for useful information and in this way you are also branding yourself. It is important to find forums that are geared towards your niche or field of expertise as this is obviously where you will find people who will be interested in your kind of business and in what you may have to say.

To find suitable forums for yourself all you need to do is a search on Google or one of the many other search engines that are available on the internet. Once you have found a few forums that appeal to you, you will need to sign up and be accepted before you can make any posts.

I would suggest that in the beginning, don’t start posting the minute you are accepted. Visit the forum a few times, just to read the posts that others

have made and get a general feel for how the whole set up is run. Once you have done that then you can begin to make posts, just make them wisely. Do not spam! In other words don’t post nonsense and don’t advertise in your posts. People will get annoyed and you will be banned very quickly.

How then can you promote your business on the forums?

The majority of forums will allow you to add a signature link when you fill in your profile. A signature is just a brief sentence or two describing who you are and offering a link to your website.This will then show at the bottom of every post that you make.

On many forums you can also add an avatar. This is a small picture or photograph (ideally a real photo of yourself ) and this will also show with each post you make. This way people on the forum will recognize you and you will begin to build a reputation for yourself. If the posts you make are of value, they more than likely will click on your link and visit your website and this is the way that you will build back links to your internet based business.
