If you have ever dreamed of being your own boss and working on the internet from home with the option of making a full time living and working the hours that you choose, there are methods that you can use to do this without having to give up all the security of full time employment.

There are many people who are simply too scared to commit themselves to working on their own as internet entrepreneurs in spite of all the benefits that having your own home business can bring. Many of these people simply feel that they do not have the means to start a business of their own.

A solution to this dilemma would be to start an internet based business from home on the side, the kind of business that it is possible to work on in the evenings and weekends and even early in the morning.

The great advantage of starting an internet business is that you do not need an enormous capital outlay to get going and it does not require a great deal of space. All you really need is a spare room in your house or even a free corner where you can set up a computer with an internet connection that requires a phone line. It is more than likely that you already have these things in place.

Once you have made up your mind that you are committed to setting up a work from home business, the next step would be to decide the type of services you want to offer and what skills you have that you can put into use. Do a search of your market to see if you can find a gap that needs to be plugged with a product or service that you can offer.

Now it is just a matter of getting set up and starting to sell!

One choice is to sell something that you make yourself or a product that is specific to your area but is in demand by people who live elsewhere. This is a great way to get started and improves your chances of success but there is a downside and that is that you would have to keep a stock of the products and will also have to find the time to pack and ship them.

Another option if you don’t want the hassle of packing and shipping goods is to become an affiliate marketer. The nice thing about affiliate marketing is that as an affiliate marketer you can choose to sell either a service or a product without the bother of handling the shipping of the goods or the worry of collecting the money from the prospective buyers. This is also a great way to offer various online services or digital products such as e-books or courses.

A further option once your website is set up is to add Google Adsense or Amazon Books. Both of these programs will bring in extra money for you. This will happen when any visitors to your website click on the links belonging to either of these programs. You will get paid for every click.

So if you have always wanted to start your own internet home based business there is really no excuse. A lack of finance is really not a problem and so long as you have a small space to operate and a computer you can do it. Just remember that it will take a certain amount of hard work and dedication but the rewards are worth all the effort.

Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. Re: Working With Traffic Exchanges - Hi David, Every day I learn something new. This is fantastic. Has anyone tried it out? I am sure you like to hear from some other contributors. According to you that works. There are so many, that it gets overwhelmingly difficult to keep it up. I have subscribed, but little result. We all know about Squeeze page, but some of us are not able put it together effectively. Also the tracking code is essential to measure it. Yet again it shows that NOTHING happens without Work, even on the wonderful, inspiring Internet. We need to learn on a ongoing basis about Adwords too. Which one to choose to be effective. Without a good structure, system and skill we are meandering around the internet, looking for the day of growing success. Thanks for this post.
