Earning an income on the internet is simple, there are really only two things that you are required to do. If you do these two things consistently and work at getting better at them all the time, your legitimate home based business will bring in an income that increases all the time.

If you are not too sure of what I am talking about let me explain.

The two things that you need to do really well are generating traffic and converting it. Just doing these two things are really simple but not necessarily easy. What is needed is to get visitors to your website and you will need a lot of them and then once they are there, you must be able to convert them into customers.

If this process was all that easy, there would be many more people making an income through their internet based businesses.

The main point that many people miss, is that it is not just traffic that you need. What you really need to be successful is targeted traffic. In other words you need to attract traffic that has a specific interest in your particular business niche, so your efforts must be totally focused towards getting the right kind of traffic.

Here are some tips on ways to find the customers that are looking for what you are offering, and how you can persuade them to take action when they visit your website.

1. Firstly you would need to get these visitors to sign up to your mailing list, as you will then be able to sell them products on the back-end through you newsletter. So make sure that you have an opt-in form clearly displayed on your site or landing page, and entice them by offering them something for free if they sign up.

You could offer a free e-book or report; just make it something that will be of value to them.

2. I would suggest that you set up a blog if you don’t already have one. Make regular posts to your blog and learn about link baiting as a method of attracting readers.

3. Write articles that are in line with your type of business and submit them to article directories. There are hundreds of directories available on the internet today and the majority of them are free, so this form of marketing will cost you zero.

4. Join a few good traffic exchanges and either click regularly or upgrade to get credits so that your online home business is rotated in the exchanges and is seen by many thousands of people. This is a very good way of promoting your business and you have the choice of free or paid.

5. Join a few forums, ones that are geared towards your business niche. You will need to register before you can post and the forum owner will need to approve you, but this is a simple process to do.

Once you are registered you will then be able to join the conversations and comment and many of these forums will allow you to add a link to your website in your signature.

Just one word of warning, DON’T SPAM, make comments that are useful and will help others, or ask sensible questions but do not waste people’s time and don’t advertise in your comments. Keep that to your signature.

Using these five tips will go a long way towards helping you become a successful online business entrepreneur. So continue to give your customers plenty of useful information. They will respect you as an expert in your chosen field and when you recommend something to them, whether it is a product or a service they will be more than willing to purchase from you. Keep track of what you are doing and change things that don’t work and your internet business will improve all the time.

At the time of writing this they are the top 2 posts in that section so they should be easy to find. I have also reported them both.
