What is Important a Website that Sells or Building Traffic?
What is Important a Website that Sells or Building Traffic?
So which point should be your biggest concern?
In this article we will discuss both of these points and how you are affected by them.
If you spend all your time generating traffic to a website that is not converting your visitors into customers or subscribers then at least you have learned how to get the traffic in the first place. Although this is very important, if you are not getting the conversions, then you will need to take another look at your website to see what the reason is that nobody hangs around.
If you are starting a completely new internet based business, then it would be worth your while to do some research into building a website that sells. Just having a beautiful website is not enough, the main reason for having the site in the first place is to earn an income from it, so no matter how lovely it looks, it still need to be able to convert visitors, either into customers or subscribers or both.
These are a few of the most common mistakes that internet marketers make when setting up a sales website:
1. They load it with banner ads that make it look like a market place.
2. Their copy on the site is written in corporate type language that is totally boring to read.
3. Their copy is written without any numbering or bullet points.
4. They are too quick to make their pitch, instead of first trying to get your trust.
5. They remain anonymous, which is never favorable. People buy from people they know and trust.
6. They offer too much with too many links which just becomes confusing to the visitor.
So what is it that makes people want to buy from a particular website?
Actually, it's basically the same thing that makes people buy from newspapers ads, and direct sales letters - words.
The main difference is the way in which the words are set out, in each medium. Writing an advert for the classified section of a newspaper is very different from the method you would use to write a direct sales letter.
You will find that this applies to selling from a website as well. When people surf the internet they don’t have the time to read every word like they would do if it was printed.
Here are some things that you will need to use to keep your audience’s attention.
• People scan web pages they don’t read every word.
• Keep your paragraphs and sentences short.
• Use easy to understand conversational English.
• Draw your readers in with an eye catching headline on your editorial.
• Let your keywords stand out in bold font, as this helps the reader scan for the gist of your article.
• Use font that is big enough to be easily read and use subheadings to divide your copy into easily scanned portions.
• Space everything out.
• Place your opt-in form in a prominent place and give an incentive to encourage your reader to sign up.
Once you have these things in place then all you need to do is write a great editorial and start generating traffic that will convert successfully when they get to your website.
