When First Starting out with Blogging Begin with the Basics

Almost every internet marketer or business owner today has a blog. With the advent of internet marketing a lot of business people, particularly those who were technologically savvy, realized the advantage they could gain with regards to building credibility and good relationships with their customers. Blogging has given them the perfect vehicle for just this purpose.

When internet users first became aware of blogs they were really just being used like a journal where a blogger could voice an opinion or discuss a subject that they found interesting. From this point it evolved into a good means for earning an online income in various ways, such as promoting affiliate products, selling advertising or offering expert services and these are just a few of the options.

If you are interested in becoming a blogger, you need to be aware of some problems that you may encounter, and be ready to handle them if they arise.

Begin with the basics of blogging, that is; choosing installing and configuring your blog software tools. Although the assortment of configurations varies, someone who is new to blogging can still easily get confused. Choosing the right software tools is really up to you. If you have enough money in your budget or you really intend getting serious and earning online income, then it may be worthwhile to go for priced blog software tools, but if you are just starting out then there are many free options that all work very well. The upside is that some of these providers who charge for their services will also have an option to a free trial period, and this could be anywhere between 10 days, to 30 days, so it may be a good idea to use this as an opportunity

to test the service out.

There are some blogging terminologies that you need to know as blogging pretty much has a language of its own and you will need to learn it. For anyone who is technologically savvy, it will not take long to familiarize themselves with the language, but for people who have limited knowledge of web publishing it may be a bit more difficult.

Let's start with the most important term in blogging and that is "Post". A post is what happens every time you publish or place something on your blog. This is also the way that you create a post when you want to impart some information or talk about something of interest to you or your readers.

Secondly, because blogs are a type of communication, they do have the option of allowing comments. If any of your readers have an opinion about something you have posted on your blog they will leave a message or comment related to that particular post, and this message is called a comment. There is one important thing that you must be aware of, that is frowned upon by internet marketers generally, and that is spamming. When people leave comments on a blog that have no relation to the post on which they leave it, and all they do in their message is promote themselves or their product, this is called spam. As a blogger it is important that you do not spam other peoples' blogs and neither should you allow anyone to leave spam on your blog.

These are just a few of the basics of blogging that you need to be aware of and learning to blog is a wonderful experience, one that is well worth pursuing. In order to earn an online income or create credibility for your online business, blogging is an excellent way to do it and the good thing is that it is cost effective.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
