Your Internet Income Business will Benefit When You Focus on Building a Relationship with Your List

An opt-in box on your website where people can enter their name and email address is something that no successful online business owner ignores. This is an important tool in any internet marketers toolbox and can make the difference between failing or having a lucrative business.

It makes no difference how big or small your business may be the point is that by building and cultivating a list of people who are willing to receive email from you can make the difference between success and failure. When someone visits your website and enters their name and email address into the opt-in box that you have on your site they are giving you permission to email them and keep them updated on anything new that is happening on your website and also in your business niche.

When someone fills in their details and confirms with your auto responder that they are willing to receive information from you they are freeing you from any possible accusations of having spammed them. In other words every subscriber on your email list is there because they want to hear from you.

Just because a person has elected to receive emails from you and they have gone through the process of leaving their details and granting you permission to email them, it does not mean that they will read them. It is up to you to make your newsletter or email interesting and of value to your readers so that they look forward to hearing from you and are eager to read what you have to say.

Catch their attention with a compelling headline and be sure to follow through on the promise that the headline makes as you don't want your readers to be disappointed. This is the quickest way to lose them as subscribers it is just so easy to click on the unsubscribe button or delete the email as it lands in their in box, especially if they feel that you are under delivering or merely trying to sell them things all the time.

Another key point to keep in mind when building an email list of people who actually read your emails is don't give in to the temptation to sell with every email you send out. Your subscribers will disappear rapidly if all you ever send them is emails doing nothing but trying to sell them products. If every email you send out is nothing more than a sales page for your online business products you are going to lose these subscribers rapidly or they will just stop reading anything that comes from you.

So instead of trying to sell them things all the time, you would do better to spend time building a relationship with them. Remember always that these are people and then decide what you can do to help them before you worry about helping yourself. What do your subscribers actually want from you, if you think about this you will realize that information that can help them is what they want most. Mostly when people access the internet what they are looking for more than anything else is information that can help them sort out a problem of their own. They also want to be entertained, so your task is to offer information in the niche you are serving in a way that will both educate and entertain them, and this can be done with cheerful and lively newsletters that will keep them informed and up to date.

Once you have done this you can then introduce a link to a product or online business promotion that you want them to know about. You can add a link to a sales page with one or two sentences as a PS at the end of your email. In the first few emails it might be an idea to avoid any direct marketing or products.

It really is just a question of finding what works best for you. An email subscriber list gives you the opportunity to build a friendly and trusting environment with your readers and the potential to have unlimited prospective customers available to you for the cost of an auto responder service and the time it takes you to write some professional newsletter messages that pertain to your online business niche.

Re: What are your success criteria? Re: What are your success criteria? - [quote="DwayneGarrett":1igrdgib]Out of curiousity, what has to be present for you to know that your business is a success? The top three things for me are: 1. Maintaining a 6 figure income year in and year out. 2. Creating and promoting my own products. 3. Income not solely dependent upon my personal effort. How about yours?[/quote:1igrdgib] I would have to say mine were: 1. Monthly Residual Income that exceeds all expenses by 110% 2. Free time to create and promote my own products (relies on #1) 3. 5% of all revenues generated by my team going to feed starving kids Now that is "feel good work".
