In this type of situation everybody wins as the advertiser gets a potential sale, Google gets paid for it and the website owner earns a legitimate online income for allowing it. Adsense is a program from Google that is free, and you are allowed to register an account and display relevant ads on your blog, website or on free article directories. The ads that are displayed are targeted, which means that the information in the Google box all pertains to the products that you are promoting on your website or to the information that you are sharing.

If you have a website that attracts a high volume of traffic that converts well, then Adsense would be a great lucrative extra, but if your website is struggling to get a lot of traffic, then Adsense in all probability would not do much to improve your online income at this point. Acquiring some search engine optimization help and choosing the best keyword for your website content will make the task simpler for Google and the other search engines to find you, which in turn will help to generate more targeted traffic to your site.

Remember that there is a difference between Adsense and Adwords. With Adwords people can buy products direct from the publisher using targeted keywords and baiting sales copy. Google has some amazing tools that can help website owners track everything. From Google Adsense reporting to Google Analytic to Google Conversion and most recently Google Goal Tracking. Between all of those tools a website owner should know exactly what type of traffic is converting & making them money and what type of traffic is not. I even use Google PPC to estimate organic search engine traffic! Website owners would do well to follow your lead and create a base, and then test off that base in regards to advertising. Jeff

Allen. 2001 That's a misnomer, though - they're not ordinary people, they're people with established careers who can take their expertise and exploit it on the web. Ways to generate income? 1) Sell your own material on the site. Ebooks, etc. 2) Join various affiliate programs that match what your website is about. 3) Google adsense - All my money comes from this... it's started out slow but as readership of my sites grown, the income has grown. Nothing to write home about yet... 4) Google adwords - the advertisers whose ads show up on Google Adsense. Unless you're selling big ticket items on your site you don't want to use it, your keywords can cost from 20 cents upwards.
Adsense question...Evan? Anybody? - Many people contribute to my various webzines because I promise them renumeration in the form of revenue from anyone who clicks on the Google Adsense ads on the pages where their articles appear. I've been doing this by creating a separate channel for each contributor, so I can keep track of each person's income, and it works fine. What I'd like to do for a new project, however, is have my contributors give me the code for [i:2vwhwtl0]their [/i:2vwhwtl0]Google Adsense account, so that when they check their account, the clicks show up there and the money goes immediately into their account. This way they *know* what they're getting, and don't have to take me on trust. And it also saves time, moneywise, of course, since they get it right away instead of waiting for me to disburse it every 3 months or so. So my question is, would it violate Google Adsense guidelines for me to have other people's AdSense codes on my site? Evan, I know you've done something like this, where we get a *percentage* of any clicks on threads we started (and I've gotten a wee bit, by the way) ... did you work a special deal with Google or is it something they allow with no fuss? I hate reading small print, which is why I'm asking here instead of trying to read Google's TOS...
Re: Poll: Blogger or Wordpress Blog? - One of the advantages of having a blogger blog is a fast approval for adsense. If you want to start earning with Google Adsense open a new blog and add Adsense to it and get approved immediately.

Or do you find that Google Adsense still provides more revenue? Do you have any advice for website owners (myself included) on what level of traffic a company needs to pull in to attract 3rd party advertisers? Also, have you had any success on selling your advertising space to 3rd party companies who handle the sales for you? Jeff
