The first step you want to take is to make sure you are selling a product that is rare and in high demand. Make sure the product you choose the sale can't just be found in a store, the mall or a phone book. There are already too many lotions, potions, pills, legal service companies, travel companies, phone companies, television companies, etc. These markets are saturated, have lot of competition and will not produce enough Internet marketing sales for the massive income I'm assuming you want.

The next step to guarantee Internet marketing sales is to choose 2-4 marketing methods you are going to do and master. You don't want to start with anymore than 4 because you will not be able to focus on each marketing method and give each one the time it needs to produce results. Instead, if you choose to start with more than 4, each will get little time and you will get few results. So you want to master 2-4. This is a must to guarantee Internet marketing sales.

Last to guarantee Internet marketing sales you want to stay consistent with your marketing which will build your list and then build a relationship and market to that list. Now that you have mastered whatever marketing methods you've chosen, you will be getting plenty of lead and some sales will come right away. But for the people that don't buy the first time, you want to build a relationship with them through your autoresponder messages so they will trust you and look at you as a person that just wants to help them. Then after you've done that the sales will start pouring in because they trust you and you have the solution to their problem, which is your product.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
niche forum categories - I think Kevin just touched on the point that I was going make... and that is developing 'categories' that stick. Sales and Marketing may be too broad for example. However I can almost guarantee you that you would see many more sign-ups if you tailored a category to 'internet marketing' for newbies. I've seen this work on other forums, however, [i:1i903wkn]it can get a little frantic[/i:1i903wkn]... Fine tuning the categories, or expanding the scope should be effective. I think a lot of IM folks are surfing right on by because they're not finding what they're looking for here... The signature links to their site - if they have one - can / should be motivation enough to get more involved. The more internet savvy members that have signatures seem to stick around more... Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
