Dominate Your Market.

When you have discovered your target market the next step to take is to find out how to be at the top of your chosen market. Through researching and dissecting the business models of the competitors in your market, you will discover four main gaps that will show you places where they have missed out on giving people exactly what they want. In the four areas where gaps are found ask yourself, "how can I provide value and solutions where others haven't."
1. Advertising Gaps.
Are there some potential sources of traffic that they were not using?
Do they come up on paid and organic listings?
Are they doing any offline advertising in magazines etc?
Is there any other websites sending them traffic?
2. Marketing Gaps.
Is there any places where video could have been used?
Did they have an attractive offer with a clear call to action?
Do they appear trustworthy and credible?
Do they have an "opt-in" section to capture visitors information?
3. Content Gaps.
Were there any solutions they didn't come up with?
What questions didn't they answer?
What kind of reviews were given, what did they like about the site/product?
Was there anything that didn't satisfy the customer?
4. Sales Funnel Gaps.
What is their irresistible offer? What products are they offering?
Are their prices reasonable and competitive?
Do they offer any products as upsells, or discounted deals to encourage the customer to buy more from them?
Are they presenting affiliate products?
These are places to look out for so that you can fill in the blanks they have missed, therefore adding your value to completely satisfy the customer. However when working your way to dominate your market remember that you must do it in a humble manner as the leaders you are looking to rise above just may one day become a partner or beneficiary. Remember you reap what you sow therefore make sure that when you have made it to the top you don't regret how you got there.

I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
