What Is Text Message Advertising and Should You Be Doing It?

Text message advertising offers businesses one thing that no other advertising can. Instant traffic. No matter what kind of business you are you can benefit from text message advertising.

According to the Mobile Marketing Association, mobile advertising is “a set of practices that

enables organizations and businesses to communicate and engage with their audience in an interactive and relevant manner through any mobile device or network.” Text message advertising is one of those services.

When you sign up for a text messaging service you choose a keyword relevant to your business and you are assigned a "short code". A short code is a short phone number, basically, about 5 or 6 digits.

Then you advertise everywhere, to existing and potential customers, that if they text your keyword to the short code they will start receiving special text coupons. Now it's up to you to send your opt-in subscribers very special deals and you will build a relationship that fosters repeat visits from existing clients and encourages new clients to walk in the door and start using your services.

Imagine if you are a restaurant having a slow day and you send out a text to several hundred of your subscribers offering a free appetizer if they come in and show their text coupon within the next four hours?

Compared to any other form of advertising, including email, your text message will get a near 100% delivery rate, a 97% open and read rate, and a potential 15 to 40% redemption rate!

There is no doubt that would have an impact in your profits and at the same time build a personal and beneficial relationship with your customers.

Is It Affordable?

Absolutely. Especially when you consider the money that goes down the drain with traditional advertising that doesn't target your audience. Any business can afford to get started with text message advertising.

You can use a Local Mobile Specialist (such as MobileHelpers.com) to manage your campaign for you, provide you with marketing materials such as table tents or flyers, run analytics on your subscribers, and design and send all of your text communications.

Your other option is to do it yourself with a Text Message Service. This method could save you money and can be done quickly and easily once you learn the ropes. We even offer 30% off your first month just for trying it out. You can't really go wrong with that.

Don't get left behind. Text message advertising has been called the fastest growing market with a predicted four fold growth within the next four years. Businesses will distribute 70 million text coupons by 2013. Is your business ready for the mobile revolution?

Re: Email Marketing Benefits Re: Email Marketing Benefits - Email marketing is a kind of direct marketing used by marketers to communicate with potential or existing customers directly by means of email. In email marketing, sales letters are never sent in an unsolicited way, and every person on an email marketing list, gives permission and agrees to receive email messages from time to time. Here is what you should expect from email marketing service: - Automatic subscribe and unsubscribe. - Automatic removal of bad email addresses. - Automatic message delivery. - Message sending speed and flow control. - Message personalization. With such an email marketing software, you will get a great enhancement in business or e-commerce.

Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers - When I was making phone calls I received 2 different messages that really stood out... Message 1: "We can't come to the phone right now. If you're a telemarketer please remove this number from your records. All other calls...." I never bothered to hear the rest because I wasn't allowed leaving messages anyway. I had to actually talk to the person. Message 2: "This phone number is protected by Embarq Privacy Services (something like that). Please leave your name, phone number and reason for call, and the party you're trying to reach will determine if the call is important to them." I summarized, but you get the point. Embarq is a local phone company. I don't know if it's available nationwide or not. That's a new one on me, though. I utilize caller ID on my cell. Unless it's a local number, I don't bother to answer. If it's important enough they'll leave a message. I use my cell for online and offline business since it has these capabilities as well as voicemail. Gotta love technology.
