Why is it so important to get top Google placement? Why are those top Google spots so sought after? What difference could it make to your success in business?

There is no disputing that Google has the majority of search traffic on the internet – over 70% in fact. No other search engine comes close to this reach and with a billion and a half internet users this is a whole lot of traffic.

Because of the volume found everyday Google has become the largest advertising company in the world. The quantity of money spent on a daily basis on advertising with Google is absolutely astonishing and it is growing all the time. The majority is spent in the form of Pay Per Click advertising which are those ads on the right of the page when you search a phrase.

This can be an extremely expensive way to advertise your business, products or services.

On the left of the page are what is known as the organic results. These are a combination of different types of content submitted to give value to someone searching.

This could include articles, videos, press releases, blogs, web 2.0, podcasts. This is the part of the search results you want to dominate if you want to successfully use free internet marketing techniques.

And the great thing is with a combination of formats and media, and with a healthy history of contributing a substantial amount of quality content it can be easy to dominate the first page results on Google.

There are some crucial aspects which you will have to understand and master in order to achieve this.

Number One is a targeted keyword. Educate yourself about keywords and how they work. Become familiar with the keyword tools that are available and make sure you do your keyword research before you submit any content. The keyword must be something that people are searching but it also has to have relevance to what you are selling. There is no point in dominating a keyword if it does not bring people to your site who are interested in buying what you are offering.

Your keyword should have less than 100,000 competing pages in the search if you want to dominate quickly.

It should also have a good quantity of global searches per month – over 1,000 is getting there. These are your potential customers

When typed in your keyword should have PPC ads on the right hand side. This means there are sales in this area otherwise no one would stay there.

If the entire front page is taken up with authority sites and by these I mean huge sites like Wikipedia, Amazon or other big websites then you are going to have difficulty bumping them off so try again.

Once you have your perfect keyword you will then begin submitting content using this keyword in multiple formats. Use articles, videos, press releases, blogs, web 2.0 and podcasts and promote this content with the appropriate tools.

It will take concerted effort on your part and you will have to be very focused on each campaign but the rewards for getting the sort of exposure that dominating the front page of Google for multiple keyword phrases are immense and it is easier than you would think!

www.tobuso.com and www.paperrollshop.com - Please take a look at these and tell me what I should do. I am too close to them to see it objectively at this point. The main on is the tobuso.com one. The other is just a paper roll side bar project. I have had a guy working on tobuso.com for about 2 weeks or so. I really dont understand why it doesnt have any Google Page Rank yet. I am starting to move up in the rankings for my targeted keyword but I am lacking in the google Page Rank and cannot figure out why. I guess it may just take more time. Re: Specific Strategies To Raise PR Levels? - After re-reading through the posts in this thread it seems to me like there might be a little confusion as to what Page Rank (PR) really is. For those who don't know... PR is a number between 1 and 10 that Google assigns to a web page based on it's importance. With 10 being the highest and most important. It's mainly determined by the number and quality of inbound links to the web page but there are other factors as well. It is NOT the ranking your site has in the Google search engine or any other search engine. If you are ranked #3 on google for "home business" that does not mean you have a PR of 3. They are completely separate things. Furthermore, PR does not determine how high a site ranks in the search engines. It's possible and very common for a site with a low PR to outrank and site with a higher PR for the same keyword phrase. If you want to raise your PR then you need more backlinks. Higher PR backlinks will pass more link juice to you and help raise it much easier. On that same note, if you want to increase your search engine rankings for a particular keyword then you also need more backlinks with the keyword you are targeting as the anchor text. When it comes to that, Page Rank and Search Engine Ranking Positions are very similar but that is it. People often think that they need high PR to get good search engine rankings and it is not true. They also tend to think that just because a site has high PR then it is better than a site with lower PR, that is also not always the case. One final thing about this is that the PR you see on your Google Toolbar for a web page only updates a few times per year and is not necessarily the actual PR for that page. The actual PR is stored at Google and is updated constanty, and is not shown to the public. Only they know what it really is. I hope that clears up some common misconceptions about Google Page Rank (PR).
Page Rank From Google Toolbar? - Google toolbar on my PC has a Page Rank button which ranks the current page and will list similar pages to the one that's currently open. I've also heard that some sites can fool the toolbar. I was wondering if the people here that use the Google toolbar have used that feature much?
