How to Develop the Entrepreneurial Mindset and succeed in your online business

Making the huge shift from being an employee to running your own home based online business requires a major shift in your mindset. You need to develop the mindset of a winner and there are a number of ways to achieve this. It is likely to take a bit of time to create the mental fortitude needed to become a real entrepreneur. By concentrating on the following necessary points you will find that success in your online business or any other type of business will be achieved with much more ease.

Think first about the following attributes: drive ,determination, motivation, focus, discipline, work ethic. Would these describe how you approach your business on a day to day level? Your business will take all of these in order for you to progress. If not, then you are more than likely treating your business as a hobby and you will pay for it like a hobby!

You need to set goals and meet them. The ability to set realistic goals as part of your plan and to stop at nothing to achieve them is absolutely essential. The goals have to be at the forefront of your mind in everything that you do in your business and the satisfaction of meeting these goals will drive you to setting more and more challenging targets.

Be accountable for what you do. Take responsibility for all aspects of your work. Recognise when you have fallen short of your expectations and put measures in place to avoid repeating mistakes. It is you and only you who is responsible for how your business grows.

Expect frustrations and irritations. Some of these will be technical and some will be around disappointments. This is what happens. Learn from a technical difficulty and find a way to overcome it. Just relax and move forward. Losing it has no reward. If you are disappointed about the results of a particular campaign just examine the outcomes and make a call on whether to continue with that particular strategy for a little longer or to cut out of it and put your resources into something that is bringing in benefits.

Never quit! If you want to be a success in this industry you have to persevere and refuse to give up. Sometimes the results are slower than you anticipated but if you quit then you have achieved zero. If you forge ahead with tenacity and you make sure that you complete that marathon you will be on that winners podium.

Mix with successful people from the internet marketing arena and mastermind with them at every available opportunity. Being around the top leaders will make you a better leader. This is extremely important.

Educate yourself. Read every available resource to improve your mindset, skills, knowledge and self. Use the lists of material that are recommended by your mentors and diligently work your way through them.

Be a leader. Be an example to your team of what leadership is about. Be available to assist your team to find the answers to their questions. This isn't about holding anyone's hand, it is about developing the confidence to get the answers from the right sources and to teach self-reliance. It is also important to be there with the solution when all other avenues have been exhausted.

If you use all of these points in your home based online business you will reap the rewards that come from being a successful entrepreneur. A lot of business owners don't make the grade because of the way that they approach their business. It is entirely in your hands how you perform. You can either be one of the top 3% or you can be part of the 97% who don't make it. You can make excuses or you can develop the correct entrepreneurial mindset.

Re: Great start, but no finish Re: Great start, but no finish - My advise is FOCUS on your business. Focusing is the main factor to succeed on business. If you have a great idea, then follow it only, don't look anywhere else. It is especially essential in an online business. Because there are a lot of mind blowing sales letters promising millions dolllars or overnight success, people find it difficult to concentrate on one business and they lose their energy. Concept is simple. 1- Have a good idea; 2- Build your business on it; 3- Monetize your business; 4- Promote it; 5- Build list of responsive customers; 6- Maintain You Business. Focusing and not fearing from competition (instead you can learn from competitiors) are main tips of billionaires ,BTW. Orxan
Re: THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS ALL IN YOUR HEAD...RIGHT NOW!!! Re: THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS ALL IN YOUR HEAD...RIGHT NOW!!! - Hey Barry,
"Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing." - Abraham Lincoln WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS STATEMENT ???[/quote:ev3dumxj] It's true on two levels. Level 1 - Doing something for the first time to succeed. Level 2 - Coming back from failure and not resting until you've regained success. The scares maybe deep. The wounds tender to the touch. But it will always be man's resolve or lack there of that defines the limits he is willing to go to, to gain or regain succeed. Books, audios, videos, courses, seminars, webinars, & etc. are important and I can't get enough. But nothing can take the place of what a man must decide to do, deep down within himself, if he wants to succeed.
Re: Online businesses Re: Online businesses -
I see that online businesses are the most popular... pretty much, I think, because people want to see the money continue to come in while they're on vacation or doing other things. That's certainly why I've started an online business. I work a lot longer hours than I would at a brick and mortars company - but I also enjoy what I do a heckuva lot more so it's not work, it's play. That's the kind of business to be in - the kind you love so much that you're not actually working...[/quote:3kzb38m3] Hello OmnivoreInk, I also believe it is the lower costs of starting an internet business that can also be attractive. Without the added pressure of a business loan you may feel more confident in being able to succeed without having to make huge amount of profits in the first few months to put food on the table while paying off the loan. I know that some eBay business people would also have a full time job to support their part time business. Ideally you would want to reap the benefits from both the online (worldwide) and offline world (your local town/city) to maximise your exposure to customers and therefore more profits, in theory. You are also right about loving your work, you should feel very lucky as I know someone who earns a lot of money but does not enjoy the work they do as a tradesman, which results in an unhappy person who drinks every night.
Focus Brings Long Term Results Focus Brings Long Term Results - Over the past 2 years of venturing out and running my own business and not working full-time in a job I have tried numerous business opportunities. I have tried businesses in providing student accommodation, share trading and options, renting and selling paddles to dragon boat clubs and selling toilet odour eliminator products online. This was opportunistic thinking and diminished my efforts as I got started by adding more work rather than focusing on one business. It was all very tempting to try and run them at the same time to see which one would take off. Unfortunately there was no focus and when times got tough I jumped across to work on the business that interested me more. Opportunistic Thinking Is Bad If you are like me and see that everything is possible and always keeping an open mind about business ideas, then you will find it irresistible to try new ideas. Trust me I’ve learnt the hard way. So how have I changed this? I’m a huge fan of Yaro Starak’s blog - entrepreneurs-journey.com and one day he wrote a post about his coach Rich Schefren who was launching a new coaching program. As usual most internet marketers have a system to launch their new products and give away a lot of free quality information that can be applied straight away. They do this so they can build rapport with you and show that their information is useful before they start their sales pitch on you. As I knew the information was free and they just wanted my email address, I downloaded Rich’s eBook, the “Internet Manifesto“. If you haven’t read it, I would recommend you get a copy of it immediately. The Change in Mindset After reading the “Internet Manifesto”, I had a profound moment that I would change the way I operate my business. My mindset went from “thinking opportunistic” to “thinking strategically” meaning if I wanted to build a long term business I would have to set up the right systems and hire staff to leverage my time. I realised that I couldn’t do everything myself. Rich’s famous flowchart accurately shows how most Solo Enterpreneurs run their Internet Businesseses today. (I’m one of them and have taken action to outsource a lot of my work since then) Rich Schefren's Internet Manifesto Since then I have taken action to sell my businesses that are not part of my goals and made a mental decision to not start new business opportunities. Focus Is Key Since I was compelled to find out more, I downloaded the rest of Rich’s series of books which are listed below: 1. Internet Manifesto 2. The Missing Chapter 3. The Final Chapter 4. Attention Age Doctrine Part 2 5. Maven Matrix Manifesto 6. The Entrepreneurial Emergency Through this series I learned that I needed to focus on one task at a time, not five at a time (today’s generation calls it multi-tasking). Making that shift helped me improve time efficiency and also get tasks completed that generated more money. Additionally, you need to use your strengths to focus on a task and learn to outsource the rest that you are not good at. This is the key to long-term success in any business.
