Is Mike Morgan's Home Based Internet Marketing Business a Scam?

Written by: Mike Morgan

Article Overview: How can you tell if the home based internet marketing business you are looking at is a legitimate internet business or one of the many scams you will find online? There are a few fairly easy signs to spot which will identify a legitimate business opportunity. Simply searching the company name and scam will probably not give you anything helpful to base your judgement on.

Is Mike Morgan's Home Based Internet Marketing Business a Scam?

Firstly I would like to give you a very big tip if you are suspicious about any business on the internet. If you Google the company you are looking at and add the word scam to your search you are more than likely going to get one of two things.

Number one is internet marketers from other companies trying to leverage the success of a particular company by calling it a scam, giving you reasons why it is a scam and then pushing you toward their completely "legitimate" home based business. This is unethical and the company I work with forbids this type of marketing.

Number two is the type of article you are currently reading which attempts to give valuable information to someone who has typed in searches which involve scams to help sort the good from the scary.

Isn't it interesting the amount of suspicion that is aroused when dealing with home based business opportunities. It is probably understandable that people feel that every business online is out to take the money and run. In my experience with marketing on the internet I have seen a number of schemes with dubious claims and have visited sites where my instinct would kick in if I was thinking about parting with my money.

One of the most important aspects of starting a home based online business is the due diligence which you must undertake before deciding on where your future will lie. This is not something to be taken lightly. It may be difficult to ascertain the name of the company from the page you have landed on. This is fairly common practice and is about the company complying with Google regulations rather than being mysterious. Once you have entered your details in an opt-in form though you should have the name of the company and you can begin your research from there.

Let's look at my experience with finding a successful home based business. I spent several months researching a number of different businesses. All had different structures, buy in levels, compensation plans, products (or no products!) and pitches for your investment. I gradually eliminated the ones which I felt did not promote a product line which could stand alone without the marketing system. This is important. Otherwise it is all smoke and mirrors and how long could you be passionate about selling a promise to others.

The next big pre-requisite is leadership with integrity. If you cannot find who the company leaders are, if all you can find is a mechanized website with boasts of riches, be very wary. If the company appears to have leadership who are real people with integrity, ethics and a passion for giving this is a very good sign.

The next crucial must for an online business is a comprehensive training and education system with the top producers in the company helping the new business owners to replicate their results. It has to be a truly cutting edge portfolio of marketing techniques with full support from qualified professionals.

Crucially, the compensation plan has to have substantial up-front commissions and a generous residual plan. Be wary of complicated compensation plans involving building large down-lines or any obscure points and percentage plans which hope to baffle the new business owner.

Also the company has to have a history of success with substantial growth which is documented. Find out where the company was a couple of years ago and have a look to see where it is now.

Finally, if you think someone is pushing a business which is a scam the best way to tell if someone is genuine is through their blog sites and social media. People who are out to rip off others do not share their personal lifestyle with others. If you can find a real person with family, friends and interests outside business behind the site then you should feel much more comfortable with your choice.

In fact this is the key. Internet marketing is all about people and relationships. It is not about computers and programs.

Re: Who inspired you to start? Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business. Regards,

Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? Re: How many mambers of this forum are also member of WF? - Hi Kevin, I have to agree with Tanny. All forums are unique in their own way, but doesn't mean that one is better than the other. What you might get out of one forum, you may not get from another. For instance, the WF focuses on Internet Marketing, while this forum focuses on Entrepreneurship. Each has their own set of benefits. I don't think you can really compare one to the other, unless of course they focused on the same topic. I have learned a lot from this forum, stuff I would never have gotten from the WF. With that being said, I've learned a lot from the WF, specifically since I need to know about Internet Marketing and running an online business. The addition of the Online Business forum here will help, and Jeff is doing a great job as moderator.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
