Is Pessimism Killing Your Home Based Online Business?

Isn't it interesting how our attitude to the world affects everything we want to achieve in every facet of our lives. We are bombarded with negative news and viewpoints if we choose to buy into what is being fed us by the major media corporations and the self-interest groups who dominate our information portals.

For a long time now we have had to put up with bank economists who have been giving us the worse case scenarios in the economic crisis. We have all been subjected to the constant stream of fear-mongers who have influenced and stricken the population with stories of death and destruction via our news networks.

Remember though, the best way to sell a particular media vehicle is to appeal to that fundamental emotion of fear. How many people could not extricate themselves from news reports following the outbreak of a war or a terrorist attack. This is a powerful way to sell copy.

I had an interesting conversation with a good friend today. He was resigned to the fact that whatever he did the future was bleak for his children. Economic turmoil, environmental catastrophe, human greed and intolerance were the way he saw the future. He had read several books outlining the imminent destruction of the human race and the planet and was anticipating a future he had no control over.

My view is the future is exciting and full of promise.

How can I think that with all of the problems which exist in the world today?

I understand the crises we are seeing in the environment and in the always present scourge of conflict. But I also see something else. I see the basic human traits of caring, kindness and love. I see the self-sacrifice of those who are prepared to risk self to further a cause they truly believe in even if they come up against a powerful force. I see people who share the same beliefs no matter what race, colour or creed they come from, whatever their language or culture.

I believe the world can be changed one person at a time.

This becomes truly apparent now with the power of the internet. I suggested to my friend that he should take some time to read what people from all around the globe are writing on some of the article and blog sites online. The range of viewpoints reflects the true diversity of human thought. You do not have to agree with everything that is being written but the fact that it is a reflection of such a multitude of stances is real democracy.

"But I am not a pessimist. I am a realist!"

This is an excuse for not taking action and for accepting the status quo. The power of numbers can change anything. Take a stance. Help somebody. Develop an optimistic mindset.

In your own business you will not succeed if you develop a pessimistic attitude. You will blame your company, the economic situation or other people for any lack of traction you are experiencing. This will ensure your lack of success and will assign you to the 97% of marketers who make no money from their ventures. Successful people have an optimistic mindset. This is a fact. If you encounter any problem with your business the secret is to learn from it and make any necessary adjustments and then most importantly to move on.

Reflecting on the conversation I had with my friend I can only say I am extremely fortunate to be involved with a company which believes totally in optimism and taking action. It believes in developing each individual to the point where they can give back to the community they are a part of. It is such a part of my daily existence I am surprised if I turn on the radio or meet someone who has a gloomy outlook because I do not identify with the limiting outlook this encourages. I am not in denial, I understand the problems and challenges we face but I choose to be pro-active and make a difference in my life. I see countless others online who share the same sense of potential and wonder.
