Missing Out on the JB Hifi Store Manager Job Became an Amazing Opportunity

JB Hifi is a chain of successful retail stores in Australia and New Zealand which sell music, dvd, computers, audio, cameras, games, home theatre and a range of other consumer goods. The JB Hifi stores are busy and vibrant with enthusiastic staff. This is not an article which will criticize JB Hifi in any way as I enjoy the stores and love finding surprising films and music. This is about how I found an exciting alternative to my expected career path.

I have an extensive background in music retail and have experience in every aspect of the retail industry. A while back I started thinking about what would be the next step in my career and looking at my experience as a retail manager, retail business owner and time as marketing manager and product buyer for chain stores it seemed logical I should look toward this industry. JB Hifi seemed to be a good choice as they were expanding in New Zealand at a time when many were closing their doors permanently.

So I dusted off and updated my CV and applied for positions with this company. I thought my CV would be interesting and my years of experience useful to them. I contacted the company several times but it seemed there would be no new career with JB Hifi for me. Competition for any roles was intense with record companies and other chains downsizing there were very qualified people willing to accept a lesser position in order to stay afloat.

I started to think a bit more laterally. What did I dislike about the retail environment? How did I really want to live my life? Where did I want to be in 5 or 10 years time?

The answers were interesting. I disliked the hours of work in retail - working weekends, late nights, holidays, Christmas! I disliked the mall environments and the flourescent light and air-conditioning. I disliked the lack of time freedom and the average pay. I needed to find a solution which had the sort of compensation which would allow me to be debt free and comfortable within 5 years. I needed something which would challenge me intellectually and encourage me to grow personally. I needed a solution which offered me complete freedom to work when and how I wanted and to be able to travel or pursue interests at the times I choose to. Sound too good to be true?

Surprisingly I did find a business which offers all of these benefits and many more. I made the giant leap from being an employee with all of the disadvantages which come with the territory to being an internet entrepreneur, business owner and online marketer. Within the first four months I achieved some astonishing results. I credit these results to hard work, determination and identifying and selecting the most powerful business and marketing system available.

By utilizing the very best internet marketing education to sell a range of the most sought after products available you can create a future with the kind of freedom others dream of.

I was shopping in JB Hifi today and I couldn't help feeling pleased that I did not get a retail manager position with them. I would not have discovered the business opportunity I have now.

Re: iPhone Apps: Biz Idea! Re: iPhone Apps: Biz Idea! - San Diego, California – Got an idea for a killer iPhone app? With more than 1 billion applications sold since its launch last July, Apple’s iPhone App Store has become one of the fastest-growing tech enterprises in recent history, and gained a reputation as something of a developer’s goldmine. Success stories such as that of Ethan Nicholas, whose iShoot app has earned him $900,000 in eight months, have only added to the App Store’s appeal for would-be iPhone entrepreneurs. “The runaway success of the App Store has created the legend of the iPhone millionaire,” says Ian Maskell, principal of iPhone App Freelancer, a company aiming to make it possible to get your idea into the App Store without technical knowledge and minimal financial outlay. “Everywhere we went people would say: ‘I’ve got a great idea for an app.’ We saw an opportunity to level the playing field and allow anyone the ability to become the next success story, regardless of their ability to program or write code.” So Maskell launched iPhone App Freelancer, a website offering the ability to turn great ideas into apps with little or no programming knowledge. Rob Shoesmith, a 27-year-old garbage collector from Coventry – England, submitted one of the first ideas to iPhone App Freelancer for development. Shoesmith says he has only had an iPhone for a few months, but has been following the growth of the App Store since its launch. He wants to keep the specifics of his app under wraps until its launch, but describes it as a user-generated advice service.
