When You Want to Sabotage your Successful Home Based Internet Business

The power of the mind is an incredible thing. Above everything else necessary in being a successful entrepreneur the ability to master your mind is the one absolutely crucial component. Without the correct set of skills in perfecting your positive and results driven psyche you may as well not put in the intense effort required in learning the marketing and business techniques. A successful home based internet business is one where the entrepreneur has understood this truth and is taking constant and methodical action to consistently improve and redefine in the process of self-mastery.

I like to walk. I like to walk a lot. And while I am out walking I find I come across many different people and many different stories. It is like a series of snapshots of peoples lives. Today I came across a story which I found particularly interesting. I was passing a spray-painting workshop and noticed a man pottering away just inside the door.

"Hi there, how are you?" I asked.

He replied "Terrible, just terrible!"

I said that wasn't good and asked him what the problem was. What he said surprised me. He told me he was too busy. He had too much work to do. He couldn't do it. I was a bit bemused by this and offered it was probably better to be too busy than to be too quiet. He wasn't particularly interested of course as he had already set within his mind how he perceived things to be.

This was really interesting in that this person had a business and the focus of that business you would think would be to get as many customers through the door as possible. So why the resentment? Why was he sabotaging any success he could achieve. Instead of embracing the challenge and considering expansion to cope with the extra custom he saw it as an annoyance. This opportunity was staring right at him and he refused to even look up.

Also interesting was the state of the workshop. Paperwork strewn around everywhere, car-parts piled up in every available bit of space and this man who had so much work was busy rearranging some junk on a car bonnet.

So we had a completely negative mindset, resentment and rebuttal of being busy in his business, he did not want to be there, his work-space was a chaotic mess and he was procrastinating about even starting on one of the jobs he was to be paid to do. A recipe for absolute business disaster.

Are you guilty of any of these failures. Any one of the above problems will have a profound negative effect on your home based online business.

Do you have to make yourself start work, or get up early, or write new content or is it something you relish and look forward to?

Do you resent the interruptions of phone-calls from your team or calls you have to make to your prospects or is this one of the most rewarding parts of your day?

Is your work-space haphazard and chaotic and are you sometimes frustrated when you can't find something?

Do you get easily sidetracked and an hour later you find you still haven't begun your list of essential tasks for the day?

If you have any of these problems please recognise them as obstacles that must be overcome for you to progress in your business. Be very disciplined in working on your mindset and have a clear plan for every part of your day with a set of goals to focus on and achieve. Be organised and clear in your working space and habits and most of all see being busy and having too many customers as a gift that should be embraced. Be grateful and use your creativity to find solutions and watch your enterprise grow.

Re: Who inspired you to start? Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business. Regards,
