If you are a fairly recent inductee into the incredible world of home based online marketing you will hopefully be working your way through a mountain of marketing training, technical skill upgrades and personal development resources. You may feel a bit overwhelmed by the scale of your learning curve. This is a very healthy thing. It means your brain is finding ways to rewire so you can absorb the volume of information necessary to take you to another level. Get used to this and get to enjoy it. Feeling overwhelmed is a desirable place to be and you will want to be continuing to learn and develop yourself as much as possible.

To be successful in home based internet business you have to be completely focused, dedicated, passionate, creative, tenacious and you need to take massive action to achieve your goals.

One of the tricks in making it in this business is to make sure, even in the face of a huge workload, you find time to focus on some extremely important methods in achieving success which all of the top producers use.

One of the foremost methods to bring about success is visualization.

This is something which must be practiced every day and most who use this will do it twice a day. You may be thinking "Yeah, I read 'The Secret' and I visualized a million dollars for months and it didn't happen."

This is where most people get it wrong. You don't get things by osmosis.

Try it this way. Set yourself a high but achievable goal, this is relative to your current position, and set a date to achieve it by. Then put into this picture how you will feel when you reach this milestone. Think about where you are, who you are with, what you can hear, taste or smell to give the picture authenticity.

Then write out an action plan which you will adhere to to facilitate reaching the goal.

Go to this at least once a day in a quiet time. Read it and then feel how you feel on the day you have set.

The interesting thing is the way this works. The action plan is much more at the forefront of your consciousness and you will be amazed by the ideas you begin to notice which will drive your online business forward. Recognize and implement these ideas and watch the results your creativity will bring to you. When you arrive at the date you have set you will be surprised that it will feel as if you have already been there.

Once you have reached this goal it is time to set an even more ambitious one and put into practice the action plan and your daily marketing goals to get to the next level.

This is the way that top entrepreneurs get to the very top and stay there. If you were to ask any of the industry gurus or personal development or motivational authorities you will find they all have variations of this same system. And it so easily becomes another part of your daily routine after just a few weeks you barely even have to make yourself do it.

If you would like to take your business to another level definitely add this to your range of tools and be persistent with the implementation. You will be surprised where visualization and goal setting will take you.

Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. Getting Started In Your New Internet Business - I always think it’s fun and exciting to start a new Internet business. I know for me that I would do something that I’m interested and passionate about. Otherwise the new venture doesn’t last for long. As it’s just as important to have passion, motivation and interest, there are a few areas that help me succeed in business. Promoting Your Internet Business I would call this the “show me the money” part of the business. Without money or income, there is no business. Therefore it’s important to promote your business and turn your promotional activities into sales. At every opportunity, try to promote your business through passive means: e.g. through your stationary, letterheads, emails, brochures and any other promotional material you may use. An electrician I use from time to time asked me how I maintain my book work and said he doesn’t know how to do it. I was shocked because I’d known him to be trading for over 2 years and he probably doesn’t know how much money is being made in his business or let alone lost. What I am saying is to not be like my Electrician friend and make sure you buy an accounting software to track all your accounts and paperwork. I would suggest hiring a book keeper because it will save you the hassle and time of doing it all yourself. Some good software packages out there that are under $500 like MYOB Accounting and QuickBooks will be more than sufficient when you start out. Another area that most people forget or get caught out on are getting the appropriate insurances for your business. The most common are public liability insurance, fire, burglary, vehicle and workers compensation insurance. All these can be easily found via a quick search on Google. I would recommend ensuring both public liability and fire insurances are in place before even running your business. Keeping Pace And Staying Up To Date This may sound all too overwhelming when you have to promote, operate your business and keep up to date with your industry. Believe me it’s not as hard as it sounds. Take the first step and join a trade association or your local Chamber of Commerce. You will find it both informative and beneficial to your business. To know what is happening in your area and within your industry can help you make better decisions for promoting your product or service. Whether it may be time to change a product line or add more services to your business, you will be keeping up with the industry and making sure you are not missing out on opportunities. Also it’s a great way to network and promote within your trade associations and Chamber of Commerce. Simply write an article to contribute and it can be used as great public relations (P.R) for your business. Also I emphasise to have a well prepared business plan created before starting your business, because this will be your starting point. A business plan is useful for so many areas for your business from sourcing finance to implementing a growth strategy for the next 5 years. Once it’s written down, it will become a living breathing document that you can update and review over time. I’ve just finished preparing my business plan for this business which took nearly 3 weeks to complete but I can tell you that it is well worth the time and effort to do.
