Everyone wants to have that perfect vacation for the cheapest rate possible. With the internet providing so many options to choose from, many people have a hard time knowing what is the best option for them and they turn to travel agents to help them make the arrangements for them. This is making travel agents one of the best home-based job opportunities to start. If this sounds like a good option for you, you may want to consider how to become a home based travel agent.

Most states require no training and no special license to be a travel agent but you should check with your states specific regulations. You will be required to create an official business with the help of a lawyer or one of the many online services that work with your state. Although training is not required, it is highly recommended because you will have a very difficult time selling a product that you don't know enough about. You may think that you have traveled enough to know how to become a home based travel agent but there is a lot happening behind the scene that every travel agent must know.

You will need to decide before you set up your business if you want to work on your own through many different travel affiliates or work with a host travel agency to help promote your business. With an affiliate program, you will need to create a relationship with as many travel affiliates as you can so that you can provide your clients with all of the best services available.
