David Letterman Style Top 10 Twitter Words

I’ve been up to my eyeballs lately in Twitter and Twitter Words.

Attempting to break down what at first glance seems like such a simple thing: A How To On Twitter. My goal is to reach the most phobic of computer users, this may not be you but what I’ve discovered along the way should be interesting to anyone, Twitterer or not.

During my research I find myself in stitches over the vocabulary people use within this social media. The thing I love most about Twiterers is how creative they are with their Twitter words and I’ve tried to give credit where I could. Hats off to @twittonary. He’s one clever Twordsmith.

# 10 Twaffic Twitter traffic. Duh! (@twittonary)

# 9 Twitterfly Being a social butterfly on Twitter. (@twittonary)

# 8 Tweetheart That special Tweeter who makes your heart skip a beat. (@twittonary)

# 7 Tweeterboxes Twitterers who tweet too much. (@twittonary)

# 6 Twit English: A foolish Twitterer.. (@amtrack)

#5 Twang A southern Twitterer. ("Right nice twang y'all posted there, @billybob.")

# 4 Nest Ass The shape of your butt from sitting at the computer twittering all day (@mmlinke1)

# 3 Deja-Tweet The overwhelming feeling that you just saw that same tweet, from that same person, 20 minutes ago. (@errandsultd)

AND Regurg-a-Tweet - The act of re-tweeting a tweet that someone originally tweeted about you. (@errandsultd)

# 2 Chirpes A Canarial Disease for which there is no known Tweetment (TeresitaMercado)

AND Nesticillin - The only known cure for Chirpes (@mmlinke)

# 1 Twoops When you accidentally send a private message through your public Twitter stream (@twittonary )

AKA Mistweet - A tweet that one regrets later (@twittonary)

Now, I think it’s time for Tweehab - Twitter + Rehab: Taking a recovery break from Twitter (@lmull3) That’s my how to on Twitter words and tweeting in the twittersphere.

Re: Happy Birthday Evan Re: Happy Birthday Evan - Thanks everyone for the warm wishes! My wife and I went to Washington DC for Small Business Week. Then we went over to New York to tour the city, saw the David Letterman show and then caught the Yankees game. It was a fantastic week and a great way to celebrate a birthday!
Ad words Ad words - And I forgot... you could give Google Ad Words a try. I've used that in the past and was never able to get my click rate below 20 cents, but perhaps you'll have better luck. With Google Ad Words, your ad (which you must make sure you write properly) will send people to your website, so it's a must have.
Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? - Great feedback guys! Trent, you've inspired me to do a post on conversion from Twitter traffic - It will be interesting to see how it compares to the other social media sites as well as direct or search engine traffic. David, the issue is that you can't control where the Twitter traffic comes from very often. If it's your own posts then you can but most of the bloggers get Twitter traffic from other people posting the blog posts or articles on Twitter which makes it difficult to track because it's not going to a specific landing page.
Elements of Style Elements of Style - Can't comment on the two books you listed, but Strunk and White's Elements of Style belong on every writer's shelf.
Re: New man with Twitter Studies Re: New man with Twitter Studies - Hi Tony Welcome to the forum. I would suggest trying that experiment again on Twitter, but follow the advice that both David and GT have given you here as I am sure that it will then make a difference. Or maybe ask people to retweet the message for you. I know that if I post on Twitter and go back 3 minutes later, my tweet has already disappeared way down to the next page. MichelleJ
