The 10 Commandments of Google Search Engine Optimization
The 10 Commandments of Google Search Engine Optimization
1. Thou shalt be relevant. Google is the most relevant content finder on the web. Focus on your audience’s passion and align your message accordingly.
2. Thou shalt listen to the people. For Google search engine optimization, Google looks at inbound links for the sites it indexes, organically. It ranks advertisers on CPC and click rate, and quality score. Basically, it’s letting search activity determine what’s popular. So, build those back links and do those surveys. Give ‘em what they want.
3. Thou shalt get to know me, first. What’s going on in the mind of your visitor? Shopping? Give them information. Buying? Give them exactly what they’re looking for. Read their minds.
4. Thou shalt be simple. KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Get to the point in your ads and deliver what you promise. Don’t forget the call-to-action (buy now). Edit, edit, edit.
5. Thou shalt not come to the party empty handed. Go to your customer… blogs, social networks, Google. Bring a gift: info, discounts, free software, etc.
6 Thou shalt not interrupt. Calling people during their dinner hour and interrupting them with stuff they don’t want is a “push” channel. Search is a pull. People raise their hand – you give them the information. See the difference?
7. Thou shalt not be an advertiser. Act like valuable content. I know a marketer that gives away his most valuable stuff. People pay big bucks for the left-overs.
8. Thou shalt test everything. Google rewards you for “trying”. Constantly split test ads and landing pages. Don’t forget your prayers.
9. Thou shalt track. Everything. It’s a sin to not know what is and isn’t working in online marketing and you’ll be severely punished.
10. Thou shalt not worship false data. Why go with your gut when you can just check with the numbers? See #9.
Amen and all that other good stuff with Google search engine optimization. See you in heaven.
