The Truth About The SendOutCards Scam

From the Desk of Stephanie Robey, Internet Marketer

NOTE: I am an expert in this industry who provised un-biased, third party opinions on home based businesses. This is a great company, incredible concept and this coming from someone who is not a distributor nor an employee of this MLM.

I've also written a detailed review, The Pros And Cons of SendOutCards.

Truth #1: Internet Marketers use the word "scam" to get your attention.

1 million people search the Internet daily for a home-based business opportunity.

Unbelievable? Just skip to the end of any of the search results for SendOutCards scam. I'll wager the vast majority actually end up saying great things and offer to be your sponsor.

Truth #2: The BBB and the FTC keep track of scams.

News moves quickly on the Intenet. In the U.S, both the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) are paid to track down complaints and consumer unhappiness on businesses. After all, it's their job to regulate commerce and make sure everyone plays by the rules.

Both the BBB and the FTC keep track of any complaints filed against any companies and they keep a running list of the bad guys. They keep track of the resolution a company chooses to take in response to any accusations.

Then, you be the judge.

Truth #3: Somethings just have bad reputations.

Used car salesman are often sleazy by association and MLMs are often considered scams for the same reason.

Its very unfortunate but generally, its what people think.

Things are looking up, however. The BBB, the FTC and Google have recently started working closely together to really come down hard on misleading ads - and this single thing will clean up the Industry and change how it is percieved. It's called the "Google slap."

Google simply won't allow you to be found in its search results if you don't play by the rules. Meaning, business is closed online.

So, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about SendOutCards scams?

Truth is, don't beleive it when someone says you can get-rich-quick.

A SendOutCards business will most likely result in success if you take it seriously, like any business, and understand that it will require massive effort and some money, too. There's proof of these people in every single MLM opportunity.

If someone speaks or writes about a SendOutCards scam, find out what they "tried" in building their business. I guarantee you, that's where you'll find the truth.

Re: Profiles on Infamous Entrepreneurs? Re: Profiles on Infamous Entrepreneurs? - Hi Kevin, I guess the point about running a "Scam" thread would be to attract those different opinions so they can be aired on an open forum and responded to fairly. Both sides of the argument could then be seen in one place (here!).
Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 Re: 3 Ways to Grow Your Business in 2011 - Hi Alan - great idea! I have sent simple things like Amazon gift certificates but I had to follow up as they ended up in the person's junk folder - it's hard to do surprises by email as it can be seen as fake / spam. What about saying that you've put in a new CRM system and were hoping to get her address so you can fill in the information properly for her? I've sent some great gifts via SendOutCards (the brownies are especially delicious) - people never expect to get something physical from a web based company. Good luck!
Me Too - So.... Me Too - So.... - I write. Its a form of 'pull' marketing that suits me, though I'm quite an outgoing person. I know all the stuff about it not being me, 'they're just not ready yet'. Truth is I'm not good with rejection and will walk if I get too much of it - so I do it differently. Each to his own I guess. Still, I wish I had the guts to do those 500, just to say 'I did it'! Will read that article!
Re: E-mail vs. real mail Re: E-mail vs. real mail - There is a nice marketing message behind that cartoon. When I bought into a very cheap lifetime OTO upgrade offer on Jon Olson's ILoveHits traffic exchange I was surprised to receive a card in the post with a hand-written message from Jon thanking me for my business. The picture on the postcard is a large version of the ILoveHits logo. Okay, so it was sent by SendOutCards.com on his behalf, but I appreciated and admired the gesture. I still have the card on my shelf to remind me what a good example it is of personal branding and the impact that 1-1 marketing through the mail can have today.
Re: Cash up front ... or Royalties? Re: Cash up front ... or Royalties? - There are so many amazing stories here. Most my inventions were created on the job and are the property of my employer. Cash up front if you are out of options is what some people must do. These people may consider a 5 year contract. This would allow them to renegotiate another license when they are stronger financially. Truth is most people that are in financial trouble today are still in trouble 5 years later. Discipline and control of your own life is priceless. An example of cash up front versus royalties is "Star Wars" Harrison Ford (Hans Solo) took cash up front. He needed the money. Alec Ginness (Obiwankonbi) took royalties. I believe the force is still paying.
