Understanding Article Marketing Research

Article marketing is one of the basic fundamentals of web 2.0. If you want to drive free organic traffic to your web site, article marketing and the research that goes with it is very important. Article marketing research must be done properly in order for people to find you or your site through your articles.

The foundation of article marketing research is keyword research. Writing an article filled with the right keywords, and LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords is what the search engines use for determine the relevancy of your content to a users search. LSI keywords refer to "semantically-related words" which is really just a fancy way of saying "synonyms". These keywords can be found in the Google keyword tool. Using the proper ratio of the main keyword and the LSI keywords will give your content a good balance of being search engine and reader friendly.

Good Article Marketing research will allow you to know in advance what your readers are looking for before you write your article. The keyword research will allow you to determine how many searches are taking place per month for a given keyword and how much competition you will have for that keyword. An example of this would be the fact that this article is titled "Article Marketing Research". If I had targeted the keyword "Article Marketing", you may have never found it. Although the searches per month for that keyword are very high, so is the competition.

As you do your article marketing research, you will get a better understanding of how your keyword research will relate to your article writing. You will typically have a topic you want to write about, but the research you do will determine the way you go about doing it. The other way to do it is to research several keywords that relate to your niche and then write articles on the ones you feel will give you the most exposure based on searches and competition.

I know this was just a basic outline of article marketing research but it is a very involved topic. You can follow me on my blog where I can help you further.

Re: Article Marketing Re: Article Marketing - Hi Laura, I totally agree, article marketing is the single most important activity to increase our presence on the internet. Sadly, a lot of article writers fail to do proper keyword research to decide on primary and long tail keywords to use in different articles in order to get ranked for different keywords as well as how best to use links and author bio’s. A lot of article directories have different rules of engagement and it is worth spending a little time getting everything in order before submitting an article to get the best response from it. regards, Mal.
Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance Re: Social Media Marketing Ignorance - It's a good point that the web is becoming more ubiquitous... and that's the number one reason why social media marketing makes sense. But still most companies are either afraid of trying it out, or don't want to bother. I think it's rare that they would thoroughly research the options and make a business decision based on research. And it's true that the younger crowd isn't even the major user group on Twitter. There was a funny Time article about Facebook being for "more seasoned" users than even college students. Personally, I think some companies won't pay attention to do the research that is done. It may harm them or it may not make a difference, as it really depends case by case.

"Keywords" are the source of traffic and its completely true that we should do a bit of research before crafting an article. Now a days, i see like its quite easy to rank well for long tail keywords esp. on Google because of the "freshness" in serp. It's so easy not to and to just start writing, but it really only takes an extra five to ten minutes to find a keyword or two relevant to your article.
