Working from home with The Barefoot Millionaires! Todays topic: 6 Secrets to Getting Ahead

Success in any business demands that you take 100% responsibility for your career, but this is especially true with a home based business. Many successful home based entrepreneurs are doing just that; read over the following six maxims to be sure you are one of them. 1. Polish your people skills. The internet can do a lot, and you should take advantage of every new technology that can benefit your company, but it can't beat interpersonal skills when it comes to closing the sale. Would you rather read the words, "Nice, soft hug," or physically receive one?

2. Hone your writing, speaking and listening skills every day, with the majority of your focus on listening.

3. Adapt to change. Better yet, seek it out. Keep your feelers constantly on the lookout for trends, as being on the forefront of a significant trend can make you very wealthy. In the same vein, don't become too happy with one method or ideal, because it's guaranteed to change without warning.

4. Show your team members that you are committed to the success of your company. People will always do what you do, not what you say. Be sure you're providing a clear example of the traits of a top notch company.

5. Educate yourself relentlessly. The day you stop learning, you lose your edge. Take short courses to get your feet wet, then when you find something particularly fun and beneficial, jump in with both feet and immerse yourself in the new data and techniques.

6. Get out of the rut! Learning more and more about one single technique or theory is a dead end road now. Work hard to excel at many things, so you will be prepared for the ugly surprise waiting for you just around the corner.

She finally realized that being gutsy, not good, was the only way to succeed. A gutsy girl : 1. Breaks the rules 2. Has one clear goal for the future 3. Does only what's essential 4. Doesn't worry whether people like her 5. Walks and talks like a winner 6. Asks for what she wants 7. Faces trouble head on 8. Trusts her instincts 9. Takes smart risks This book has NO table of contents, but above are the chapter headings. A good book, although I really wish they'd stop talking about "girls" and start talking about women.
Re: Good news for women Re: Good news for women - She probably is at the point I got to and needs to get a job or get away from the kids a while during the day and do something really productive. When I stayed home I got to the point that I felt useless. Not that I really was. I was very useful to my child at the time, but I needed adult interaction and to feel like I was making a contribution to the household. Working again we the answer to my prayer. I could not have stayed home another year and my psyche not been damaged. She can probably find lots of good ideas of how she can start a business of her own right here on this forum. Otherwise, sometimes working for someone else is better for some people. Different strokes for different folks.
Re: What is Your Favorite Thing About Owning A Business? Re: What is Your Favorite Thing About Owning A Business? - [quote="freddyb45":1t3lpfi8]For me it's the fact that all the time and effort you put in is worth a lot more, due to it making you "business" more profitable. Working for yourself is also a positive, although employing people you can trust is quite different.[/quote:1t3lpfi8] I like this idea. Working for yourself means you are investing in your own future, not someone else's, although there is value in working for someone else first to gain experience and confidence. Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]

It doesn't matter how successful you are in your business - it's always possible to learn something new. In subsequent posts I give Table of Contents and brief descriptions for various titles - most of them devoted to the businesswoman - and sometimes a review. What’s your opinion about working form home What’s your opinion about working form home - In my opinion doing a full time job from your home sounds pretty cool but does not have a good credibility. I feel that doing a job in an office or working in a specific office place is the real thing. You should not make your home place also an office place.
