There are many ways to market your internet business online and get good leads for free or for low cost. Three ways you may want to try are article marketing, forum marketing, and free classified.

Article Marketing is an effective and low-cost way to bring very high quality visitors to your website. You can also establish yourself as an authority and build trust with your audience.

You basically write articles related to your business and distribute them to article directories. Search engines will rank articles (keyword is important) and people will go to directories to read your articles. Ezine publishers will also search directories for articles to publish in their ezine.

Leads come from the resource or bio box which is part of the article. The box contains a link to your business. You don’t have to be an expert writer. Just be sure to provide valuable content your reader can use.

Forum Marketing is another way to get free leads and establish yourself as an online authority. A forum, sometimes called a message board, is an online discussion site. People start discussions, called threads, people read them and post (respond) to them. When you start a thread or post to an ongoing discussion, your signature is included in your post. You can add a link to your website in your signature. If people like what you post they may click on your link.

Find forums that are related to your business. Most forums require you to register, but signing up is easy.

Make sure what you post adds value to the discussion. Don’t pitch your business. Contribute to threads that interest you. People who like and trust you are more likely to check out what you have to offer. Otherwise you will be ignored or possibly banned from the forum. Get familiar with the rules of the forum.

Free Classified Advertising is another way to generate leads. Ad are usually text-only and can have little information or lots of information, but they include how to get more information such as a link or phone number. There are thousands of free classified sites online. To be effective at ads requires massive action, meaning you have to post a lot of ads, but it’s can worth it.

My entry - 1. The Best Business Books Ever: The 100 Most Influential Business Books You'll Never Have Time to Read - this is a fascinating book about the history of Business theory, and I'd recommend it to anybody. 2. The Big Book of Small Business: You Don't Have to Run Your Business by the Seat of Your Pants, by Tom Gegax. Ditto. 3. PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Re: How should i promote a new website? - ignore this message IF it's already been stated. I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
