Becoming An Online Entrepreneur: How NOT To Manage Your Time

Becoming an online entrepreneur requires you to manage your time so you can accomplish all you need to do. Time management can be difficult when you have a lot on your plate. But is it really possible to manage your time?

Time Is Like The Ocean

If you’re a seasoned sailor, you have to understand how the ocean works. You have to understand the currents, be able to read the effect of the weather on the ocean, and know how to use the wind to go in the direction you want. You can’t make the ocean do your bidding. You have to work with the natural order.

In other words, you manage yourself in the ocean. You don’t manage the ocean. If you ignore or break the natural laws, you could find yourself sinking, if not drowning.

Time operates the same way.

You Can’t Manage Time

Time has a natural order. There are 24 hrs per day. Each hour has 60 minutes. Each minute has 60 seconds. Once that time is gone, it’s gone.

You can’t make more time. And you can’t manipulate time to do your bidding. You have to work with the time you have. So the truth is you can’t manage time, you can only manage yourself in time.

How To Manage Yourself In Time

One way to manage yourself in time is to designate certain times for focusing on your activities. You basically make appointments with yourself. For example, on these 2 days I will work this certain activity. Or I will check my email only during these hours or only two days a week.

When it’s time for you appointment, strictly focus on those activity. Don’t let distractions pull you attention away. This requires discipline. But it you don’t apply yourself, you could find yourself sinking, if not drowning, in the ocean of all your activities.

Time Is Time, Not Money

There is a saying that says time equals money. But the truth is that time is time, money is money, and when it comes down to it, time is more valuable than money.

Time is a precious resource. You can always make more money, but you can’t make more time. All you can do is use the time you have more effectively. All that money can do is help you leverage your time more effectively.

So manage yourself in time wisely.

Happy Business Building,

Yoli

Boldest Entrepreneur Moves of All Time = Christopher Columbus: "... he saw the possibility of treasure and commerce where others saw only danger. He committed so wholeheartedly to that vision that not even dozens of rejections and ongoing penury could dissuade him from pursuing a journey to Asia via the West. Write ups not successful? Write ups not successful? - [quote:2kry5vyo] Despite being written up in the Toronto Sun, Metro News, Entrepreneur Start Ups Magazine and listed as a resource in Entrepreneur Magazine people in Toronto still don't know about us. [/quote:2kry5vyo] At the risk of sounding cruel...which I do not mean to be... ifyou're getting those kinds of writeups, people in Toronto [i:2kry5vyo]must [/i:2kry5vyo]know about you. It might be that you're just not offering a service that the majority of them want or need. Time to expand into other areas or just change fields entirely?
