China is unmoving on Internet controls

A senior official said Monday that China has every right to punish citizens for using the Internet to oppose Communist Party power and ethnic policies. This comes two weeks after the world's biggest search engine provider Google announced it wanted to stop censoring its Chinese Google.cn website and was then the victim of on line hacking attacks from China. This has further strained the existing tensions between Beijing and Washington both power already at odds over trade U.S. Weapon sales to Taiwan and human rights.

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton last week said that China and other world powers should cease Internet censorship this caused a sharp reaction from China. A spokesperson from China's State Council Information Office said that using the Internet to subvert the power of China's government incite such things as hatred, division, pornography or terrorism. Here is a fine line China has the right to punish those who are who are guilty but at the same time they should recognize Internet freedom. While Google and Washington stand pact on their feelings towards the censorship they were issued on the government's website

Internet Controls

Internet policy is shaped by The State Council Information Office which is vein of China's propaganda machine monitoring Internet policy. China's latest comments came An example China's most prominent dissident,Liu Xiaobo, was sentenced to 11 years for allegedly inciting subversion by way of essays with no mention of Google or Clinton. China is unmoving on Internet controls and insists that matters concerning the Internet are theirs to decide and even the expression of non- violent views over the Internet could be seen as a crime.

You can only do so much research online. At the end of the day, there's nothing that beats first hand experience and talking directly to some of your future customers.
