Twitter is an incredibly powerful social media marketing tool that has the potential to generate you leads and sales and increasing your number of followers. First you set up a twitter account of course next you will be setting up your profile. You will have 160 characters to create a bio that says who you are and what you stand for everything is Personal Branding so you want to set how you are going to be looked upon. Tell something about yourself be witty and funny but also serious about what you are doing.

Then you will need a photo of yourself your picture is how the world will be seeing you so it is very important that you look happy and prosperous on your picture. A picture does really say a thousand words so choose wisely. Your page itself you want your page to reflect lifestyle and prosperity to be pleasant to people looking at your page. So here are some sites you can go to and select a suitable background for your Twitter Marketing purposes. These again are free sites this is your keyword in marketing you are making money here so don't spend when you don't have to.

Twitter Image.com, Twitart.com and Twitter Backgrounds.com once you have that done now you want to start putting up content. You want to focus on providing valuable content you what content that gives useful information to people who come on your page. You want unique content that is interesting and informative. If you come across a good article that you feel is good quality content use that. Use an article that you have written you want to post quotes that make people think. Your goal is to get people to retweet your content to their followers

In Twitter etiquette you send thanks to who retweets your content you are creating access to more followers this way. You want to start adding followers and how you do that is going to the toolbar on the upper right hand part of your page. Click find people tab this allows you to target your followers based on who you have set as your target market. You what to begin by adding 75 followers each day and sending out 70 to 100 tweets per week. The ratio you want to use is 3 tweets of quality content to one of your ads you are building the foundation of your Twitter Marketing campaign.

Once you have set this up you want to automate the system go to SocialOomph.com this is a free service they have a paid service also but to get started this will be fine. This will allow you to set up how often your tweets go out. You can set it to send a thanks to people who follow you and those that retweet you content. You want to use people who have auto responders and who follow you back so you can have access to their followers. This way you can build a large number of followers rather quickly so hopeful you find this helpful.

As you know, I have several businesses, and I'm wondering whether it's confusing having one Twitter account for all of them. That would mean I would have to transfer various followers into the appropriate account. Not sure if there's an easy way to do this - though Tweetdeck will help because I can separate my followers into groups. Perhaps I can just tweet them all and tell them to follow the new account? Any ideas? Ros

In my case I think I get more followers based on keyword searches than Twitter promoting my profile. Whatever topic I post on I seem to get followers that day who also post on similar topics. I also do a lot of promotion of my Twitter account from my website, newsletter, etc. which drives a lot of people as well.
Re: Twitter, Social Networking: What's Your method? - Love to see an update of experiences here, frankly I haven't got very excited about Twitter, don't like the 2000 following limit - for that matter don't understand the logic since many have many multiples of 2K followers (follow you follow me mentality) and I don't have a lot of time for trivia tweets One phenomena is all the software created to add followers, but I haven't seen them work for me So get an update here and see what I and others may be missing about Twitter marketing
