Use Google AdWords to Build a List of Eager Buyers... BEFORE You Even Have a Product!
|
| Guest post by: Mathew Tamin |
Article Overview: Did you know you can use Google AdWords to start selling to people before your product even exists? This strategy is one we use in our "5-Day eBusiness Success Clinics" as we teach people how to build a fully functioning online business from scratch in five days or less. Our students come into our clinics without even a product idea -- and they leave five days later with a website that's getting great traffic and already making sales in many cases. And a key strategy that allows our students to set up their businesses so quickly is using Google AdWords to build a huge list of potential customers before the product is created. Not only that... it's a great way to confirm the success of your business idea before your website is even ready!

Use Google AdWords to Build a List of Eager Buyers... BEFORE You Even Have a Product!
Here's how you can implement this effective strategy yourself...
1. Create a keyword-targeted landing page
You've done your keyword research -- using a great tool like Keyword Discovery or BeBiz of course -- and you know people are searching for information related to your product idea.
... Now it's time to put those keywords to the test!
How do you do this? You create a simple web page that addresses the need people are demonstrating when they perform searches on your top keywords -- and promise them a solution to that need.
For example, let's say one of your top keyword phrases is, "how to teach child to play guitar."
Based on this and other similar keyword phrases, you're thinking about creating an eBook that shows people how to teach children to play the guitar. So you create a landing page that speaks directly to the problems people experience when they are trying to do that.
... Then you tell them you have found a great solution to those problems -- and you're currently putting it all together in a complete guide that shows absolutely anyone how to teach a child "how to play 3-chord rock songs in just 1 hour!" (for example)
Finally, you need to ask them if they would be interested in learning more about this guide once you have created it.
Which brings us to our next point...
2. Include an opt-in form that people can use to sign up for more information
Think of your landing page as "website lite."
Just like a regular sales site, your landing page has to draw people in, relate to their problem, establish your credibility, and include a strong call to action.
On a sales page, that call to action would typically get people to purchase your product. But since you don't have a product yet, the call to action on your landing page should get people to sign up for more information about your solution-in-progress.
Include a simple opt-in form that people can use to join a "first alert" list and promise them that once your product is ready, they will be the first to hear about it.
Here's the really great thing about this strategy...
... Not only can you use the number of sign-ups to gauge the level of interest in your product, you will also be building a list of potential buyers who have already proven they're interested in your product.
3. Use Google AdWords to drive potential buyers to your site.
Once your landing page is good to go, you'll want to start sending traffic to it right away.
That's where Google AdWords comes in... PPC ads are simply the best way to send instant traffic to a website so you can see if your sales approach -- your ads, your salescopy, your product -- is actually working.
We suggest that you sign up with Google AdWords and create a minimum of 15 ad groups representing your top keywords. This will give you a great opportunity to test the effectiveness of your keywords so you can tweak your salescopy accordingly.
Set a minimum budget of $20/day -- more if you can afford it. The more traffic you send to your site, the bigger your list will be when it comes time to launch your product.
... And that means more potential customers for you!
4. Send your list an email when your product is ready.
Here's the beauty of this approach... Once your product is ready, you will already have a proven market for it.
After all, the people on your list have already taken action and demonstrated interest in your product. All you have to do is email them and tell them the solution they've been waiting for is ready... then sit back and watch the orders come pouring in.
There you have it... four simple steps to help you build a huge list of eager buyers before you even have a product to sell.
Not only will this strategy prove whether your product idea is a winner or not, it will also give you essential information to help you create your product and build your website. You can discover the keywords that send the greatest number of converting visitors. Plus, you can test different versions of your landing page copy and determine which benefits are most appealing to your target audience.
... You can even send out emails to survey the people on your list to discover exactly what they're looking for -- and then build that into your product as you develop it!
Now, if you are new to the Internet game and overwhelmed by the thought of building a landing page all by yourself, don't worry! There are lots of free resources on the Web that will teach you how to do this.
