A Tip To Convert Negative People into Fresh Prospects for Your Network Marketing Business
Do you
ever wonder how to deal with all the negative people in your life? Do people in your downline complain to you
about all the negative people in their life?
I was
frustrated by negative people for a long time and tried to avoid them as much
as possible. Or I resented being
captured by their ranting and raving. I
felt like my energy was sucked up by “psychic black holes.”
But I
just found out some great skills to use with negative people that are making
all the difference. I’ve been listening
to training from Tom “Big Al” Schreiter on ice breakers to use with negative
people.
Imagine
that you are at a family reunion and you’re captured by your Uncle John, the
uncle who complains about everything.
You immediately sense that this is going to be another whining and
complaining experience. But you’ve been
listening to training from Bit Al and you decide to apply what you’ve learned.
So
your uncle starts complaining about his health problems, back problems and
chronic pain. This time you listen
patiently until he takes a breath, then you ask him “Uncle John, it sounds like
you’re in a lot of pain. Would you like
to do something about it?”
Your
uncle now has two options. He can answer
“Yes” or “No”. If he says yes, then
“ca-ching”. You have a chance to share
about products from your business that could help him.
Uncle
John could also say “No.” But he
probably won’t say it directly. Most
people don’t say no directly, instead they use “secret code.” Your uncle may say “I’m under doctor’s
care.” He could also say “My father had
back problems, my grandfather had back problems. It’s inevitable.” Both responses
mean “No, I don’t want to do anything about it.”
So you
continue your conversation with Uncle John and ask him “What else bothers
you?” This gives him another opportunity
to complain about other problems. You
listen to him patiently for a few minutes and slowly slip away to talk with
someone else.
This
ice breaker is brilliant. It’s rejection
free. You haven’t said anything to your
uncle about your business or the products that could help him until he
indicates that he is interested. You
only talk to people who seriously want to do something about their problems.
Once
you master this skill, you start to look for negative people. You think “Negative people, bring them
on.” For you realize that negative
people are actually fresh MLM leads for your network marketing business. Mastering this simple skill can transform
