Are you committed to creating a successful home-based business?

If anyone had asked me if I was committed to my home business, I would have said yes. "Of course, I'm committed. I'm doing the work, aren't I?" But was I, really?

We discussed commitment on my company team call. My mentor, Michael Dlouhy, describes commitment as "being all in." Am I willing to do what I need to do to build my business? Am I willing to focus on the essentials, the training and the system to attract prospects to my business?

Well, I was, sort of. But not really! Michael Dlouhy says that saying your self-talk at least 100 times a day is a crucial piece to building a successful home business. I came up with excuses of why I couldn't say my self-talk 100 times a day. So of course, I didn't do it.

Self-talk is your affirmation of what you want to create in your business. For example, my self-talk is "I'm having fun and helping others creating the largest, most profitable, highest retention multi-million dollar network marketing business easily and consistently through education and teamwork."

This week, I bit the bullet and started saying my self-talk at least 100 times a day. It was amazing! I started saying my self-talk on my way to work, while going on errands at work, whenever I had a negative thought or was surrounded by people making negative comments. I was flooding my mind with what I wanted to create in my business and how I would do it.

Consequently my subconscious mind gave me ideas on solutions to challenges that I was experiencing in my business. For example, I realized that I haven't been doing enough work on social media sites consistently since I started my new job. So I decided to get up an hour earlier and work on social media sites before I go to work.

Are you feeling frustrated that you aren't experiencing the success you want in your network marketing business? Be honest with yourself. Are you truly committed to building your business? Are you following the guidance of your mentors? Do you have a mentor, someone coaching you on exactly what to do build a successful home business?

Have you created self-talk that describes what you want to create with your home business? If you haven't created self-talk for your business, feel free to borrow mine. You can modify it to ensure that it reflects your truth and your vision for your business.

Goethe says it all - "Until one is committed there is always hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, Raising to one's favour all manner of unforeseen accidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."

Be bold! Build a successful home based business and create magic with your life.

When do you give up on an idea? When do you give up on an idea? - I was watching American Inventor last night and amongst the few gems in the crowd there were a flurry of inventors who did not have anything close to a marketable product. Some of them had spent up to 20 years tinkering on their invention and have put their life savings into creating it. When do you know if you should give up on your business idea? Many of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world failed in a number of businesses before making it big. Milton Hershey, founder of the well known chocolate company, failed in 3 different cities and had to move in with a former employee to get back on his feet before starting what would be Hersheys Chocolate. How do you know that what you are doing is going to be successful and when do you pull the plug? I would love to hear your thoughts on this one.

Kathie from Melbourne, Australia Kathie from Melbourne, Australia - Hello everyone, I've been a contributing author for quite sometime with Evan Carmichael but only recently became aware of this forum - I didn't know it existed. I'm a mother of 5 daughters and wife of Graham. We live in Melbourne, Australia. My business was begun early 1994 fulltime from home so I could be here with our girls as they were growing up. I began a homebased secretarial business which became a Virtual Assistant business and network as the internet took hold in the business world. Today I manage a network of VAs in 15 countries. Blogging became the perfect outlet for me as I'm an avid writer so I write several blogs, have authored some books as well and periodically do articles for printed publications and online ezines and newsletters. Finally I've recently entered the speaking 'circuit' speaking at conferences, seminars and teleseminars, mainly in Australia but have begun to do a few teleseminars and radio shows for the US. I've just been asked to do my first 'physical presence' conference in Canada in 2009 which I am quite excited about.
