How to Blog Your Way to a Successful Home Business

You're ready to take your business to the next level. You've heard that blogs are an effective way to market your business but you're unsure how to get started. What's the first step? First think about why you are creating a blog. You use your blog so people can get to know you, to find out what you're about. Your blog is your hub on the social media sites that you post on, sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. You build relationships with people through your blog. As you attract people to your blog on the social media sites, you direct people to your landing page.

Create your blog in a format that can be ranked by the search engines. For example, blogs created on Wordpress.com are ranked with Wordpress. Blogs created on Blogger.com are ranked with Blogger. However, self-hosted blogs created on Wordpress.org and hosted on other websites like GoDaddy or Hostgator are ranked independently by the search engines.

There are other advantages for creating a self-hosted blogs. The Terms of Services for blogging services like Wordpress or Blogger prevent you from putting commercial advertising on your blogs. The service can shut down your blog without notice if you break the Terms of Service. When you create a self-hosted blog you have full control over the search engine optimization of your website.

It's important to focus on specific keywords when you create a blog post. You do that by putting a keyword in every post to your blog, that is, put the keyword in the title of your post. You should also indicate the keywords in the tags for each post. Implementing these tips will improve your page rank so that you'll be found on Google.

Remember that even if you create a great blog post no one will see it if you don't promote it. There are many ways to increase blog traffic such as social bookmarking, and website directories. You can also promote your blog on social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook.

You can syndicate your post through your RSS feed. Or you can distribute your post to the article directories.

Always place the link to your blog in your email signature and on your other websites. The more promotion you do, the more likely someone will find your post and read it.

As you do, you are on your way to creating a successful home business as you manifest the life of your dreams.

Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy Re: Best Internet Marketing Strategy - Hi David, I agree about the Blogosphere. You have a smaller group that Blog, but do so on the premise that they think they should, but have never really considered the purpose of their Blog. Then I think there are a few SEO or Internet Marketing types that see Blogging as just another link building strategy. But the largest group of Bloggers, tend to be people who enjoy writing and discussing their topics of interest. Blogging is good for link building, but the true Blogger is a breed apart from the rest. They want to dialog, to debate, to have feedback and they are very willing to link to other worthwhile conversations that are relevant to their topic. I agree with you. These group of Bloggers obviously are passionate about their writing and together, they create huge conversation trails interactive and travel from Blog to Blog. But the evidence is clear with this group that loves what they write about. With comments enabled on a Blog and having a Blog tuned to a specific purpose you already have the evidence of original Social Media.
